Forgive him?

Hogwarts, Fifth year.

PHOENYX HAD TRIED HER absolute best to comfort Remus, as hard as it may have been. It seemed to her that this time, something incredibly horrible had happened.

She knew that the person behind it all was Sirius, as it always was. Phoenyx knew how the boy was like, he would rarely think about the consequences of his actions before doing them at all.

"What did you do Black?"

Sirius looked up at the voice and sighed, he was not in the mood to do anything like this.

"I did nothing Potter, leave me alone."

To Phoenyx, all of this was not new. For some reason, Sirius Black had always held an undying grudge against Phoenyx Potter. Even though she was the sister of his own best mate, he would still show his distaste towards her whenever she was around.

"Don't lie to me Black, i know you did something."

"Bloody hell Potter, are you actually that stupid?"

Phoenyx was used to his behaviour, that much was true. However, she still couldn't help but feel hurt every time he would act that way.

"Have you no shame Black?"

Shame? How was a girl like her, someone so naive, talking about something like shame?

"I have no shame? What about you Potter, how are you that shameless?"

Sirius had one thought etched in his mind, how can the girl be so oblivious towards his best mate's lycanthropy?

This, it was the main reason why Sirius had hated Phoenyx Potter. How can someone like her, someone so close to Remus, be so far away from him at the same time?

But alas, Sirius did not know of the reality. Sirius did not know that long before the Marauders were formed, it was Remus And Phoenyx.

Just Remus and Phoenyx.

"Remus, are you there?"

"I'm here Nyx."

Remus Lupin had barely talked to the Marauders after the incident. Since James was the closest to Sirius, and Peter had adored James, the boy couldn't help but feel alone throughout it all.

"Tell me Remus, what happened?" she asked with hesitation.

"He led Severus to the whomping willow Nyx, i-i could've killed him, i could've killed Severus."

"Remus.."

Phoenyx held the boy close in her arms, letting him cry his sorrows away. It wasn't like he didn't intend on forgiving Sirius, but he still felt extremely hurt by what the boy had done.

To prank someone while bringing his lycanthropy in it, Remus had felt terrified of the many outcomes that could've occurred.

"Why don't you forgive him Remus, i'm sure he regrets doing it all."

"Forgive him? What he did, it could've cost me a life Nyx, someone could've died by my hands."

Every single night, Remus would have to sleep through the nightmares that'd bring light in to the monster within him. And now, knowing that Severus was so close to him, his nightmares had gotten a lot worse.

"But he's okay, right? Nothing happened to Severus, he's perfectly fine."

Phoenyx knew how close the two were, and that it wouldn't take the boy too long to go back to his brother. He had loved Sirius too deeply, to let go of him this easily.

"Don't focus on what could've happened Remus, everything is okay. You are not a monster, you never will be."

No matter how many times Phoenyx would console the boy, nothing would ever tame the beast that resides within him. He was a monster, nothing could change that.

"How about this, i'll come with you from next time onwards."

"No—that's too big of a risk Nyx, i can't put you in danger like that."

A few years ago, Phoenyx had become an animagus just like the Marauders had. With the same motive in mind, to watch over Remus while he transformed during the full moons.

However, ever since the Marauders had found out about the boy's lycanthropy, Phoenyx had stopped going to the whomping willow due to the boys that would come along with him.

Instead, she would spend time with Remus in the hospital wing, after the boys would go back to bed.

"Cmon, let's go downstairs."
