Hogwarts, sixth year.
IT WAS ANOTHER full moon and for the first time in 6 years, Remus and Phoenyx would be spending it alone. At first, the boys had insisted that they'd come too but Phoenyx convinced them that everything would be okay.
All of them had places to be so Remus just thought that they'd deserved to go. They dont need to cancel just because of his stupid lycanthropy.
That night in the common room was quite hard for the Potters and it had taken Phoenyx a while to comfort her older brother. Thankfully, it had all worked out for the best.
"Remus? Are you okay?" Phoenyx asked with worry present in her voice.
"I'm okay Nyx, dont worry about it," he replied with a tired smile.
Throughout the whole day, Remus had been in a lot of pain. For some reason, this full moon was rather hard on the young boy.
"Cmon Rem, let's get you back to the dorms. You don't look too good," Phoenyx said worriedly.
Walking up to their transfiguration Professor, she asked the lady if they could be excused from all of their classes for the day. Fortunately, the teacher had agreed.
"James, we're going back to your dorms, okay?" she said to her confused brother.
Looking at his best mates condition, he nodded and told the girl if they needed anything at all, he'd be able to come to them in a heartbeat.
In the dorm, Phoenyx made the boy sit down on the bed and massaged his shoulders to the best of her abilities.
"Phoenyx.." Remus said contently.
"Is this okay?"
"It's more than okay love," he said with a tired smile.
After helping him lay down for a little nap, Phoenyx started to run her fingers through his hair, something she knew the boy had loved a lot.
That moment, Remus was sure he was in heaven. The pain was still there but being touched by Phoenyx, he couldn't help but focus on her instead.
"I love you Phoenyx, forever and always," he said with his eyes closed.
At first, Phoenyx paused. But then after realising what he said was very much real, she took his hand in hers and kissed it with a bright grin on her face.
"I love you too, forever and always Rem."
Hearing those words, the boy's eyes darted wide opened and he stared at her with confusion in his eyes.
Remus hadn't realised what he had actually said until after hearing her reply.
"W-What?"
Instead of repeating her words again, Phoenyx took the boy's face delicately in her hands and pressed a soft kiss on the boys lips. Then his temple, then on the scar right on top of his nose.
"I love you Remus. Is that so hard to believe?" she whispered with sad eyes.
Remus didn't know if it was because of the full moon but after hearing those words, he couldn't help but let the tears pool up in his eyes.
He almost pinched himself to see if everything was real. How could a monster like him be loved so dearly by an angel like her?
"Y-You shouldn't then. Don't waste your time on me Nyx," he said while shaking his head.
"No matter what you say Remus, I will always love you. Please, don't be so hard on yourself," she said while wiping his tears away.
Pulling the girl towards him with a tug, Remus pressed his lips against her soft ones, confirming that everything around him was in fact, very much real.
Breaking away from the breathtaking kiss, Remus looked into the girl's eyes and let out a painful breath.
The type of pain that wasn't being inflicted on him by the full moon, no. The type of pain that the boy puts himself in constantly, day by day. The hurtful words he says to himself, the hate, the distress, the misery.
"You are worthy of so much more than my love Rem. I'm ready to put my life on the line for you, for your happiness. Please, stop being so hateful towards yourself. Please," she said to the boy while holding his hands in hers.
"I'm trying Nyx. I-I really am," he replied while tearing up.
Wiping his tears away once more, Phoenyx gently pressed her lips to his temple.
"I'll be by your side through it all Remus. I won't ever let go."
Phoenyx knew how much the boy struggled with self love. She knew that before they could start anything at all, she had to help him find his true self. She had to help him be happy with who he was and she was going to do it, no matter what.
"In case you guys are shagging, we're about to come in!"
