"𝐖𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐔𝐏, 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐈."Raya was immediately up, the noise of the Great Hall coming back into focus. She rubbed her eyes, craning her neck. Unfortunately, after a summer away, she wasn't used to the Hogwarts bed and she'd spent most of last night fighting off nightmares. She couldn't even remember what they were.
"I'm awake," she said to Cierra, pushing the girl's face out of hers. "I just... closed my eyes for a sec."
"And then proceeded to nearly fall in your cereal," Thomas said from across her.
Raya stared at her plate of Nutella toast, "I'm not even eating cereal."
"That's besides the point."
"That's literally the point."
"Shut up."
"You shut up."
"No you."
"Both of you shut up!" Nathaniel said, holding his hands in a time-out position. "It's too early in the term for me to deal with your bickering. At least wait until we get past Halloween. For now, pretend you like each other."
"We do like each other," Raya told him. "We just don't always agree."
"We never agree."
"We do sometimes," Raya said.
"Literally never."
"This is what we mean," Cierra interrupted. "No more bickering."
Raya made a noncommittal noise, focusing on her breakfast instead. To be fair, she knew there was no way her and Thomas could last till Halloween. Sure, he had started off all shy and a little prickly. But two weeks into their friendship, once Raya was too far gone to back out, he became a little demon. Always pestering her, and bothering her, and just being, well, the real Thomas.
She didn't mind too much. At least she could count on their weird and wacky friendship.
"You done sleeping on your food, Rye?" Cierra joked. "We'd better get to class if we don't want to bump into Peeves."
"Oh Gods," Raya groaned, already dreading that possibility. "Let me just grab Cedric, and then we'll head along."
Thankfully, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff second-years had all of their classes together, except for Charms, which the Ravenclaws shared with Gryffindors and Hufflepuff with Slytherin. There was also Herbology, which was basically not even a class, that the Ravenclaws had with the Slytherins and the Hufflepuffs had with Gryffindors.
As Raya walked to class with her friends, she heard whispers floating around about the Boy Who Lived. They all wanted to catch just a glimpse of him. While Raya found in weird and intrusive, she had to admit, she was also a little curious.
From what she'd seen, Harry Potter hung out a lot with Fred and George's younger brother, Ron. The two were in the same year and house and apparently, the Weasleys were the one who even helping Harry get on Platform 9 & 3/4.
"Let's take that way," Cierra pointed towards the other set of stairs.
"Cie, we've got Transfiguration," Raya told her. "That's the way to the dungeon."
"Is that where Harry Potter's next class in?" Nathaniel asked, looking around.
"Jesus, people," she put her face in her hands. "Who cares? He's a hero, we get it. Give the kid some privacy, and let's head on to Transfig, eh? Professor McGonagall will have our heads if we're late again."
