Beginning of the end

Enid's pov:

It's around midnight when I wake up to the door opening.
-"hm? W-Wednesday?"
I say in a tired daze.
-"oh. Your up"
-"hm yeah"
She then sets her bag down and puts her jacket up.
-"so where were ya?"
-"...just spent the day in town. Visited Eugene"
-"that's nice, did you have a good birthday?"
It's silent for a bit.
-"yeah my day was fine"
-"that's good..I'm glad"
I say drifting back to sleep.

Wednesday's pov:

As I'm inspecting the gates mansion mayor walker walks out from the front door. I hid and follow him as he makes a phone call.
-"listen I might've figured out who's behind all this"
He then looks around to make sure he's not being followed.
-"it's a long shot so I'm gonna have to lay it out for you, meet at the Weathervane. We can discuss over apple pie, my treat"
He says with a smile as he finishes the call. Me and Thing then sneak into his trunk.

As I peak from the back of the car I see the mayor greet the sheriff. Suddenly out of nowhere a car speeds and runs over the mayor, my jaw drops and the sheriff runs out. The sheriff spots me as I leave the mayors car. He takes me into the weathervane as the other cops and ambulances take care of the mayor.
-"so what were you doing in the back of the mayors SUV?"
-"I already gave the other cops a statement"
He sighs.
-"I know. I want a better one"
He says placing a recorder on the table.
-"I saw him coming out of the gates mansion-"
-"the hell were you doing at the gates mansion?"
He asks interrupting me.
-"house hunting."
I reply annoyedly.
-"what was it he wanted to discuss?"
The sheriff sighs.
-"look back when the mayor was chief of police we used to meet up and discuss his wild theories over apple pie. Usually they never lead to anything"
-"when someone is run over on their way to give the police KEY information it usually means they were onto something. And all signs point to the gates family and that house"
-"one problem with that, their all dead. Every last one of 'em"
After a bit more back and forth be drives me back to the school.
-"Wednesday! Inside. NOW!"
Principal Weems demands as we pull up.
-"good luck"
The sheriff says with a slight laugh as he drives off.

-"how do you manage to end up at the CENTER of EVERY terrible thing that happens around here!?"
She questions as she passes back and forth in front of her fireplace.
-"incredible luck"
I say sarcastically.
-"your off campus privileges are revoked until further notice"
I roll my eyes and walk out of her office.

Enid's pov:

I open the door to the dorm and see Wednesday working on her novel.
-"are you ok!?"
She looks at me startled.
-"yes I'm fine"
-"Jesus Wednesday your for real taking years off my life"
I say collapsing in my bed.
-"one can dream"
She says as she begins typing again. I laugh a bit. Oh Wednesday why must you be like this.
-"why are you smiling like that?"
She asks.
-"ah! Sorry I'm just glad your ok"

Wednesday's pov:

I've devised a plan to investigate the gates mansions. I just need my two main distractions. I call Tyler.
-"I've reconsidered your offer"
-"huh?"
-"about your nonbirthday dinner, or were you not serious?"
He laughs a bit.
-"No yeah totally, what time shall I pick you up?"
-"seven. Sharp."
I then hang up. Alright Tyler's covered, now to get Enid.
-"hey buddy"
I say in an attempt to be cheery as I enter the dorm.
-"huh? Wednesday?"
-"yes?"
-"you seem in a good mood"
She says with a smile.
-"well I've been thinking about my birthday, and you were right."
She smiles and blushes a bit.

Enid's pov:

-"if only there was a way for us to get of campus and have a little birthday redo"
She takes a pause and starts walking towards the window.
-"just two best friends...too bad the school is on lockdown"
She says looking out the window. Am I in a dream right now? Is Wednesday Addams really saying all this to me?? I have to take this opportunity.
-"how 'bout I say I'm about to wolf out and get a pass to the sleep in cages and say you volunteered to lock me in!"
I suggest excitedly. Wednesday turns to look at me with a smirk. God...marry me already.
-"my deviousness has finally rubbed off on you"
She says in a pleased seductive tone of voice.
-"anyways hurry up and grab your coat"
She says snapping back to her regular self.
-"wait! We should wear our snoods!"
I say running back to my bed.
-"oh um I think I left mine at night fencing"
She said with remorse.
-"Actually you left it at the Weathervane, luckily Bianca brought it back"
I say with a smile as I hand it to her.
-"like a monkeys paw"
She says with a smile.

Outside the school gates there's a car. Wednesday sits shotgun and I get in the back happily but suddenly my smile fades as I notice Tyler in the drivers seat.
-"wait..he's our driver?"
I ask confused. Tyler looks at me then at Wednesday even more confused then I was.
-"I thought we were going on a date?"
-"I thought this was a girls night out?"
-"just drive."
Wednesday responds coldly. Tyler looks at me again then back at Wednesday.
-"um nice snoods.."
He then starts to drive off. I wish Wednesday didn't look so cute in her snood it's hard to be upset when she looks like that. I guess I'll just go along with it though, it's not like we'll be doing anything dangerous. Wednesday would never put me in danger.

Wednesday's pov:

We get to the gates mansion.
-"this place is creepy af"
Enid says with slight disgust.
-"I know"
I say with a slight smile as I enter the property. When we reach the front door however it's locked.
-"here I got this"
Tyler says as he tries to open the door.
-"it's pointless"
He says after the door doesn't budge.
-"can I try..?"
Enid asks. Tyler steps away. Enid then with no effort rips the door off and I feel my face heat up. Dear god what am I doing, I can't be getting flustered on a mission! Tyler looks at her confused and impressed.
-"what? It's a werewolf thing"
She says with a shrug. I can tell Tyler had unintentionally made her feel insecure. We then enter the house and walk to the garage where we see a car with a tarp draped over it. I lift up a corner of the tarp to see the car.
-"this is the same car that ran over the mayor"
I say.
-"ok we need to call Tyler's dad right freaking now"
Enid says I'm a shaky voice. I can tell she's scared but I can't call the cops yet.
-"no. This is my investigation"
We then walk into the living room.
-"here they are"
I say shining my light on a painting above the fireplace.
-"a picture of the gates family"
I then shine my light over to Tyler who is standing next to me.
-"seen enough?"
He asks. I can tell he's scared as well, though he does a much better job as hiding it than Enid.
