Opposites attract

"Alone time"

Wednesday's pov:

We get outside and everyone's jaws practically drop when they see just how many people are here. Not all are direct family, some are just second cousins and family friends. Some of my uncle's have set up a Ferris wheel as well and my aunt's have some pastry booths. You'd almost think it was some sort of fair by the looks of it. In the center of it all is a giant stage where the dance competition will be and by the wall are tables where the pie eating competition will be.

I hate that stupid competition. Suddenly Enid grabs my arm and begins shaking it.
-"O-M-G!!"
She says in a singy tone.
-"is this really all just for us and your family??"
She asks. The others awkwardly laugh.
-"yeahh this seems like a lot Wednesday"
Bianca says with an awkward smile.
-"woah is that where y'all are gonna be fencing too?"
Ajax asks, pointing towards the stage. I shake my head.
-"no that's just dancing, we'll be fencing in a bigger place"

Xavier looks nervous but manages a smile.
-"so uh is everyone here apart of your family?"
He asks. I look around.
-"yeah just about"
-"woah"
Everyone mumbles in unison.
-"well of course they brought their butlers as well so it's about 60% family 35% workers and then you guys"
-"um how many people are here?"
Enid asks.
-"y-yeah do you know?"
Yoko adds.
-"hmm maybe a little less than 100? Honestly it's not much"
-"I don't think I even know more than 5 members of my family"
Ajax says.

-"what are you kids doing!?"
My fathers voice booms as he walks out to us, spreading his arms.
-"get down there and go have fun! Don't be shy, don't be shy!"
He says giving us a slight push.
-"what time does everything start?"
Bianca asks as we walk down.
-"technically it's already started, but our eating starts around 12:30 and should end by either 1-1:30, dancing starts at 5:30 and can honestly go up till 8"
Xavier looks down at his phone to check the time.
-"so what do we do till then? We still got a few hours"

-"we just walk around and mingle with family, there are games and mini competitions though"
-"such as?"
-"corn hole, axe throwing, arm wrestling...archery and I don't know what else"
-"oh! When's arms wrestling?? I bet me and my boy AJ here can beat some of your family"
Xavier says, placing a hand on Ajax's shoulder. I shrug and send them off to ask my father.

Yoko's pov:

-"how 'bout we go try archery?"
I ask Bianca.
-"y'know I'm not that great with arrows!"
She mutters.
-"just go along with it, I'm tryna give the two love birds some alone time"
I mutter back in a singy tone.
-"they always have alone time"
She mutters back in the same tone. I elbow her side. Wednesday and Enid look at us confused.

-"me and Bianca are gonna go see what time archery starts so you two go hang out without us for a bit, yeah?"
I say, pushing Bianca away as I smile. Enid and Wednesday just continue to look at us weirdly.

Enid's pov:

-"what was that all about?"
Wednesday asks, crossing her arms.
-"no idea"
Just then my phone buzzes a few times. I have 2 texts from Yoko, 1 from Chase, 1 from Oliver, and 1 from Emma.

Yoko:
-'enjoy your alone time with Wednesdayyy 😘😘'

Me:
-'😂'
-'you guys didn't have to leave!'
-'besides this is all her family so it's awkwarddd 🫤'

Yoko:
-'🙄
-'you'll thank me later'
-'now go have fun!'

I roll my eyes and check my other texts.

Chase:
-'yo En's how've ya been?'

Me:
-'good! Sorry I haven't texted much 😅'
-'I'm kinda at an event with Wednesday rn tho so maybe we can call later?'

Chase:
-'👍'

-"shall we walk around?"
Wednesday asks. Shit i didn't realize we were just standing here.
-"y-yeah, of course"
I reply and we begin walking.

Emma (hot topic sk8er girl):
-'hey enie! We haven't talked in a bit so I was just wondering how it's going with your girlfriend?'

Me:
-"hiii!'
-'things are going good I'm meeting like a lot of her family rn tho

Emma (hot topic sk8er girl):
-'hey that's good!'
-'😬'
-'should we just talk later then?'

-"who do you keep texting?"
Wednesday asks, tilting her head in confusion.
-"s-sorry I just got a lot of texts I'll be done in a sec"
She nods and goes to say hi to a relative.

Me:
-'yes please'

Emma (hot topic sk8er girl):
-'will do!'
-'just text when your free 😉'

Wednesdays pov:

-"and who might this young lady be?"
Aunt Virmilia ask, gesturing towards Enid. Luckily Enid puts her phone back in her pocket. I sigh on relief.
-"this is my friend Enid"
I say.
-"excuse me?"
Enid replies, looking back at me. My aunt looks confused.
-"yes a friend from Nevermore"
I reply. Enid rolls her eyes but smiles as she greets my aunt, shaking her hand. Enid's gonna be mad at me isn't she...

-"it was great seeing you Wednesday! You too Enid! I'll see you girls at the competition"
My aunt says, hobbling away. We wave and once she's gone Enid begins walking away.
-"am I in trouble?"
I ask. Enid frowns as she turns to look at me.
-"...yes, your in trouble"
Huh I didn't think she'd actually say it, oh well, nothing a little affection can't fix.
-"I'm sorry, is there anything I can do mi amor?"
I ask, nuzzling into her neck as I wrap my arms around her side.
-"sabes que te amo cariñ-"
-"nah uh"
Enid interrupts. I pull away confused.
-"huh?"

-"all you do is sweet talk, I'm not that upset cuz I get that maybe you don't want certain people in your family knowing we're together but I mean come on, you don't think you can solve everything just by showing me a bit of affection..do you?"
She asks, tilting her head with a smile. My jaw almost drops. I don't think I've ever been more attracted to her.
-"well no of course not"
I manage to reply.
-"good, let's go have fun, ok?"
She asks, taking my hand.
-"yeah...ok"
I reply, hiding a slight smile as she drags me over the the Ferris wheel.
