What started out as a simple morning turned deadly in the matter of hours
2 hours before the accident (start music at the top here )
"Ty.." Carlos said pushing the hair out of Tk's face slowly Tk's eyes opened to see Carlos sitting on the side of the bed in his work uniform " it's snowing .." Carlos smiled " I've gotta go to work but I wanted to tell you that I love you and to be safe when you head in ." Carlos said giving tk a small smile tk clearly still have awake "love you..safe ." Tk mumbled but Carlos could make out the message "I love you to ." Carlos said running his hand through Tk's hair once more before kissing his temple
Tk got up putting his uniform on and tidying up the place before he left after all he didn't live here so it felt wrong to leave Carlos's house in a state that he wasn't comfortable with before he left so he washed the dishes and ran the dishwasher , swept and mopped , took out the trash , and made the bed
10 minutes till the accident
"Tk are you sure your okay with this ?" Tommy asked " I did a bunch of Ice rescues in New York cap I'll be fine ." Tk said as he crawled along the ice
He got to the place where the man's cowboy hat was placed dusting around the ice to find the boy "I found the kid !" Tk said as he hammered into the ice once cracked open he dove into get the young boy And it was just them the ice broke causing tk to fall all the way in
"TK!" Nancy yelled " I'm going out there ." Nancy said as Tommy stopped her " Nancy I get you wanna help tk I know he's your friend -." Tommy said "he's not my friend he's my brother and if he dies I will never forgive myself !" Nancy said " we need to help him !" Nancy said " help me pull then ." Tommy said
An hour after the accident
Carlos rushed into the hospital to be greeted by Nancy " is he okay ?" Carlos asked as Nancy hugged him " calm down ." Nancy said rubbing Carlos's back " Nancy is he okay ." Carlos asked pulling back from the hug watching as Owen came out of the room " son -." Owen said seeing carlos " is tk okay I need to know he's okay ?" Owen said " Tk's in a coma .." Owen delivered the news as Carlos's expression went dull
Tears fell as Carlos looked at tk how he looked so lifeless he was pale his eyes had purple circles underneath them . How motionless Tk's body was it was like he was already dead the had a tube down his throat to help him breath because he was to weak to do it on his own tk couldn't even fucking breath on his own
"He wouldn't want you to be sad ." Owen said clapping Carlos on the shoulder " he's a strong resilient kid he's gonna be okay .." Owen said hoping to bring hope to Carlos " the thing is I know he wouldn't even be upset about his situation he would be glad that he saved that little boys life ." Carlos said " that's who he is ." Owen said. Looking at his son " I mean I can't be mad at that right ..." Carlos said his eyes starting to get watery " I know it's who he is - but now he might not ever wake up again because of that .." Carlos said wiping his tears
" he's gonna pull through .." Owen said " Alex almost killed him when I found him - he was barley even there - and that that it killed me to see him like that now he's in a coma fighting for his life he's tired of fighting ..." Carlos said Owen just pulled him into his chest just like he'd done with his own son many times
Carlos stepped out of the room to give Owen some time with tk seeing Nancy curled up in a ball on one of the waiting chairs asleep " hey Nancy ?" Carlos said rubbing her shoulder gently "hm ." Nancy said sitting up " maybe you should go home ?" Carlos said " no tk - he's like my brother I need - I need to be here." Nancy said stumbling over her words " Tk's not here right now to make sure his big sister is taken care of so I have to until he gets back and he'd want you to get some sleep at home in your own bed ." Carlos said " I'll give you any updates I get I promise ." Carlos said " promise ?" Nancy said "promise." Carlos
"You are the best person I know .." Owen said holding his sons lifeless hand " your so brave and caring .." Owen said "I don't know where you get it from ." Owen said letting out a sad laugh " I need you I'm the person I am because of you ." Owen said wiping his tears "you have people who love you who are praying for you .." Owen said
"But I won't be mad if you choose to go with your mom and sister -." Owen chocked " I've been such a shitty father to you ..." Owen said crying " I wasn't their when you needed me -." Owen said " all those years I neglected you and I'm so sorry ." Owen cried " what kind of father am I and now it's to late .." Owen cried " please come back to me son ." Owen said holding Tk's hand close to his chin " I love you so much son ." Owen said rubbing his sons palm

And then all of a sudden Tk's monitor went flat he was bottoming out Carlos rushed to Tk's room " we need a nurse !" Carlos called
Owen and Carlos were kicked out of the room as they watched the doctors push drugs into tk and shock him tk wasn't breathing his body was shutting down
