The time finally came and Tk couldn't be happier as much as he loved home he missed the firehouse he missed going on calls . Tk was finishing getting ready when Carlos came behind him wrapping his arms around Tk's waist "morning ." Tk smiled as Carlos kissed his neck "morning baby ." Carlos said
"Are you sure your ready to go back ?" Carlos said " I promise .." Tk said " I will be fine ." Tk said Carlos knew Tk would be fine he just worried about him he always would no matter the circumstances hell he worried when Tk went outside thats just who he is " I packed you a lunch promise me you'll try to eat something ?" Carlos said "promise ." Tk said kissing Carlos on the lips they stayed like that for a moment Carlos steadying his hands on Tk's hips Tk put his fingers on Carlos's lips "don't start something you can't finish ." Tk smiled "later I promise ." Tk said Carlos nodded
Tk walked into work with coffee for Tommy and Lucy he came to the rig seeing the two of them inside restocking "Hi I brought coffee." Tk laughed as Nancy and Tommy came out of the rig " we didn't know you were coming back today !" Lucy said as both Tommy and her hugged him " we missed you buddy ." Tommy said "I missed you guys to ." Tk said " I will be taking my coffee now ." Lucy laughed grabbing hers " do you kids think you can handle restocking while I finish up some incident reports?" Tommy asked they both nodded .
" I missed you ." Lucy said " I missed you more believe me ." Tk said
Meanwhile Carlos cleaned up at home from breakfast for him and Maya
"When's daddy coming back?" Maya asked snacking on the blueberries Carlos had put on the counter
" after you go to bed princess but you will see him in the morning maybe we can go to the park." Carlos said
Maya had recently started calling them papa and daddy it was knew but they liked it they liked that Maya was feeling more at home
"But who will help me with my math ?" Maya asked "I can ." Carlos says " no offense papa but you suck at math ." Maya chuckled "oh okay go get your shoes and backpack on missy ." Carlos laughed
"Can we FaceTime daddy before work ?" Maya asked getting her shoes on " sweetheart I'm not sure if daddy is available right now .." Carlos said " please ???" Maya said giving Carlos the puppy eyes " let me see ." Carlos said
Carlos - hey babe I just wanted to see if you were free to call real quick ? Maya wants to FaceTime before we leave for school .
Tk- yeah just doing inventory with Lucy I can call real quick. Tk said
A few minutes later Carlos FaceTimed Tk " hey babe ." Carlos said as he helped Maya up on the counter " hi my loves." Tk smiled " hi ." Lucy smiled " hi aunt Lucy !" Maya said " where's my hi ?" Tk said " hi daddy ." Maya laughed " when are you gonna be home ?" Maya whined " not till after you go to bed baby but I'll be home in the morning ." Tk said " well who is gonna help me with my math homework?" Maya asked " papa can ." Tk said " he suck's at math ." Maya said Tk noticed the offended look on Carlos's face " she's not wrong babe ." Tk laughed " shut up !" Carlos said " we can do your math on FaceTime when I have a break later okay sweets ?" Tk said " okay daddy I love you ." Maya said kissing the phone "love you two baby have a good day ." Tk said " why don't you go get your lunch ." Carlos said " okay papa ." Maya agreed " be safe and message me if you need anything okay ." Carlos said " I will babe don't worry ." Tk said softly " I love you ." Tk said " love you to baby ." Carlos said
Later that night when Tk came home a little light shined from under mayas door Tk peaked open the door to see Maya and Carlos in bed asleep a book on the bed clearly Carlos fell asleep before he could put it away and his reading glasses still on Maya was cuddled up next to him fast asleep
Tk walked over grabbing the book softly putting it on the nightstand for now he then gently removed Carlos's glasses putting them on top Tk draped a blanket over Carlos's bossy before putting a kiss on his head he then went to Maya pushing her hair out of her face and placing a soft kiss on her forehead
"Daddy ." Maya whispered sleepily " hi sweetheart .. go back to sleep okay ?" Tk said the little girl nodded her head before saying " love you daddy ." Maya said softly before closing her eyes again " love you to baby ." Tk said
Tk ventured to their bedroom getting a shower before climbing in sleeping alone was one of the things Tk hated the most but tonight he was okay with it he knew Carlos was downstairs asleep and he would see him in the morning
When Carlos woke up he looked around he wasn't in their room he was in mayas the little girl clearly still in dream land he sat up in bed the throw blanket that was draped over his sliding down he must have fallen asleep while reading to Maya
Carlos journeyed upstairs seeing the bedroom door open Carlos stood in the door frame seeing Tk sleeping Carlos carefully climbed into bed spooning Tk "'mmm." Tk mumbled words Carlos's couldn't make out Carlos just placed small kisses on Tk's shoulder " hi baby .." Tk finally got out Tk turned around to face Carlos " I'm sorry I wasn't up last night I wanted to hear about your first day back ..." Carlos said stroking Tk's cheek " nothing special happened was just happy to be back ." Tk mumbled
"Did you eat anything from the lunch. I packed or the plate from dinner?" Carlos asked " I had the kind bars you packed
Carlos packed Tk leftover pasta some water and some kind bars which Tk liked for lunch and left some chicken and mash potatoes in the microwave for Tk to heat up " I'm proud of you ." Carlos said softly kissing Tk's forehead
