They had been through a lot -
Parenting was a new chapter a unexpected chapter maybe not forever but it was supposed to be father in their future

Tk couldn't help but feel unprepared- at first and Carlos shared that burden he through Tk into this but now as he helped his future father in law in the kitchen while he watched his fiancé and their newly adopted daughter play with buttercup in the living room he couldn't feel that this was where they were meant to be
"They're adorable." Owen smiled snapping Carlos out of his zone "yeah - they really are ." Carlos smiled as he continued to chop the veggies
"How has Tk been with eating ?" Owen asked " he's been better .. he's eating some not much but I'm glad he's eating something ." Carlos said
"He will get there I promise ." Owen said
"You two are really good parents .. you know that right ?" Owen said " the way you two care for the little girl she really got the best parents ." Owen said as Carlos smiled " we try she's still warming up ." Carlos said with a smile "Carlos I need you to do me a favor okay ."
"Yeah anything ." Carlos said turning around to look at Owen
"I need you to take care of my boy okay ? Always - make sure he eats that he takes his meds -" Owen said pausing " always but why ?" Carlos asked
"My cancers back -." Owen said clearing his through which he was doing more often now that Carlos thought about it"Owen - you need to tell Tk ." Carlos said
" it's already to late Carlos there nothing I can do about this -" Owen said watching as Tk and Maya gave buttercup belly rubs
" how long have you known ?" Carlos asked " almost 10 months -" Owen said " and before you say anything I'm not doing chemo I can't it's to late ." Owen said
"Owen -" Carlos said
"Look at them Carlos - he's happy you two have built a life together I want him to stay like this ." Owen said
"All I'm asking is that you let me watch my granddaughter grow up and my son get married to the love of his life -" Owen said quietly
" I need that before I go - before I leave him so I know he'll be okay ." Owen said wiping his tears "Please - just let me have the time I have left -" Owen said
" I don't want Tk to worry ." Owen said
"Hey babe maya wants to know if you can come color ?" Tk said wrapping his hands around Carlos's waist Carlos looked at Owen before he nodded " yeah let's go .." Carlos said turning around but everything Owen just told him still lingered throughout his head
Tk carried maya inside she fell asleep on the car ride home and they didn't have the heart to wake her once Tk put her in bed and tucked her in he went to their bedroom where he found Carlos on the edge of the bed biting his nails " you okay baby ?" tk asked as he closed the door softly " yeah. I'm fine ." Carlos said tucking his hands assy
" you sure about that you've been quiet all afternoon.." Tk said softly coming over to carlos " yeah just a little anxious not sure why.." Carlos said he knew it was a lie but he couldn't tell Tk the real reason "want me to rub your back with that massage oil you like ?" Tk offered kissing carlos's shoulder " or I could run you a bath ." Tk said
"Could I just hold you.. Just for a little bit?" Carlos asks looking at Tk "yeah ." Tk said giving Carlos a little smile they got under the comforter Carlos raking the role a the big spoon Tk holding his hand with both of his messaging it " are you sure you're okay ?" Tk asks again
"I'm always here to listen," Tk reassures him
"I know I promise im okay ." Carlos said " just like holding you that's all ." Carlos said
It was also Friday which meant movie night after dinner maya Carlos and Tk gathered around the living room Tk laying next to carlos's lap whist on the other side may was curled up under his arm
Maya took after Tk in being a sleepy head because halfway through the movie he noticed she had fallen asleep and not long later Tk was out as well Carlos stayed till the end of the movie before during the tv off he gently moved picking up Maya trying not to disturb tk in the process
He got may into bed putting her bunny in her arms before turning of the night light
When he came back he saw Tk still asleep on the couch he put one hand underneath tks knees and the other right under his shoulders picking him up
Tk didn't weigh much he still wasn't eating the normal amount but he was eating and Carlos wouldn't do anything to jeopardize that -
He carried him up carefully before placing him back into bed tucking him in he removed his shirt crawling im bed Tk curling closer Carlos placed a kiss on tks head before turning off the light all their problems could wait this was what mattered
