Kabanata 09

The ninth tick

He slowly nodded his head. I held my burning cheeks and slowly massaged them. "Uh..." I gulped. "You said... Na pumunta ka here to say sorry, right?"

He put both of his hands in his side pockets, "Hmm..." tipid na sagot niya.

My head tilted, "For what?" mahinang tanong ko.

"Sorry..." He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Sorry, dahil nakalimutan ko."

My brows furrowed together. "Ang what?"

"Magkikita..? Saan?"

He poked his inner cheek.

"That..." My eyes blinked. "That was yesterday, Kairos — kahapon na kahapon pa nga siguro?" I said, while pointing at the night sky with my pointy finger.

He remained silent and staring at me.

Right? We ate pa nga at the resto near your school. So, bakit ka pumunta here para mag-sorry ulit?"

"Siguro..." He licked his lips. A low chuckle escaped from his lips after saying that.

I pouted and brought my hands behind me. "It's fine, Kairos." I smiled at him. "I know you're busy lang that time... Since, you're a varsity and scholar ka pa sa school niyo. I get it naman kung bakit mo nalimutan."

"Gan'yan ba ang dinahilan ko?"

My eyes blinked. Even though I was confused as to why he was asking me that question, I still answered him. "No..." I shook my head. "You said na it's your fault, and I should have told you that I was waiting, gano'n." My cheeks started burning up. "And... S-Sabi mo... Uh..." I gulped and averted my eyes from him. "That hindi ka a-attend ng training if alam mong I was waiting for you nga."

"Sigurado ka?"

I looked back at him. "Huh?"

"Siguro kang sinabi niy—" He poked his inner cheeks. "Na sinabi ko 'yon?"

My lips parted. "Do I look like I'm making a story?" I crossed my arms and raised my chin. "Huh?"

A smirk formed on his lips, "Hindi naman...

"It was you who said that, tapos tatanungin mo me about it?"

He flicked his tongue and followed my crossing arms. He was looking at me, with his head tilted to the side. And I could see all of that out of the corner of my eyes.

"Princess..." I didn't say anything when he called me.

He chuckled, "Princess..." tawag niyang muli.

I pouted and turned my back at him, hiding and preventing my smile from escaping and for him to see it.

"Princess..." I shook my head.

I heard his sigh, which made me try to glance at him from my peripheral.
