No one is famous and they are 16.

The minute I walked through the front door on a September afternoon from school, I knew something was wrong. For starters both my parents were sitting in the living room and on opposite couches. It is only 3pm and neither of them should be home. Then it got worse when they asked if we could talk.

They have been fighting for a little over eight months and it goes on and on and sometimes until like one in the morning and it makes me unable to sleep. It normally ends with my dad coming into my room to check on me, he then sees me awake with tears streaming down my face. He hugs me and kisses my forehead.

The next morning when I wake up my dad would tell me that my mom had left and would be in Boston for the next two days. This always happens and then when she gets home, the minute she sees my dad she starts another fight and that continues for 5 or 6 days and then she is in Boston again.

When I sat down they told me they were getting a divorce. My heart drops. I didn't know it was this bad, I mean I kind of did but I thought they were going to work things out. Tears flow down my face and I get up and ran out the door.

I couldn't see where I was going because my face was down and the tears were blurring my vision. All of a sudden I bump into something strong and firm. I wait for the impact of the floor to hit me but it doesn't firm hands grasp my waist. I look up and my eyes meet the most gorgeous brown eyes and face she had ever laid eyes on.

"I am sorry." He rushes out breathless. "No it was my fault." I tell him because it was my fault. He lets go of my waist and holds out his hand "I am Joshua. Joshua Bassett." he introduces himself.

I take his hand a jolt of electricity goes up my arm. "Olivia. Olivia Rodrigo." I introduce myself. "May I ask why are crying?" he asks me when he notices my tears. "It a long story." I say. "I have time if you need to talk to someone." he says with a smile.

"That would be really nice." I say with a small smile. "We can go to the coffee shop on the corner." he suggests and I nod. We talked for hours and hours until I told him about my parents fighting and them telling me about the divorce. We continued to get to know each other and it felt as though they had known each other for ever.

When it was late Joshua or Joshyyy as I call him now walks me home and turns out he just moved into the house next to mine.

After a while I almost forgot why I was crying that is until I got home and my mom had already caught a flight to Boston. I cried in my dad's arms and I realized that my life would never be the same after today. My parents won't be married and my family would have fallen apart but the good thing is that I have a new friend.
