I wanted to.

Oh, I really wanted to.

He doesn't know how being in the same room as him after such a long time brought back so many memories. I could physically feel myself aching at the closed proximity. Before I forced myself to sleep last night, all of the nights I've spent with him came onto me like a wave. I craved the feeling of having him sleep beside me because it felt like I was capable of getting through the night unscathed by my memories.

But I couldn't.

All I needed to do was get through this weekend and leave everything behind. I have to leave the life I have created in his, cutting off any connections between Nadia Kaplan and Charles Leclerc once Sunday is over.

I didn't get much sleep last night, spending most of it turning my body in every angle I thought would make me comfortable. He was damn right that this couch was far from anything that offered comfort. When the sun had fully risen at six in the morning, I knew sleep wouldn't come so I left the couch and took a shower.

It was going to be a bit hot today so I dressed myself in some denim shorts and a beige criss cross top, placing a white blazer over it. I was about to pick up the hotel phone to order room service when the door to the bedroom opened and Charles stepped out, clad in his usual Ferrari gear for Fridays.

"Good morning." He said, ruffling his hair that was still a little bit damp.

"Good morning." I nodded my head before proceeding to click two on the telephone to call for room service. "Hello, I'd like to order room servi—" Before I could even finish my sentence, the line went dead and I looked down to see Charles' finger pressing down on the dial tone. "What the fuck?"

He grabbed the phone from me and placed it back before crossing his arms over his chest. I didn't even hear him walk towards me. "I already ordered breakfast."

"Oh." Was all I said.

Oh? Come on, Nadia. You can do better than that.

"We need to talk." Charles said, eyes roaming over my face before he met my own brown eyes.

"We're talking right now." I said, taking a step back to put some distance between us. I picked up my bag, ruffling through it as if I was looking for something when in reality, I was just trying so hard not to look at him.

"That's not what I meant. You've been ignoring me for a month and now you're acting like nothing happened." I could sense the frustration in his voice, remembering the drawer in my kitchen that was filled with notes from him every time he delivered coffee to my door.
