June 25, 2025 - Monaco

"Alright, what did you do?" Max asked as soon as he sat down in front of me, taking off his glasses.

"What makes you think it was me?" I asked, feeling offended as I crossed my arms over my chest. The two of us were having lunch at a restaurant that we've frequented ever since he moved here. Out of all the drivers living in Monaco, Max was the one I was closest to.

We may have been childhood rivals, but we've learned how to separate our rivalry on the track in comparison to our friendship. He only raised an eyebrow at me– one that was similar to a look that Gabby would always have– before I sighed in defeat. "I messed up."

"We both know that's a huge understatement."

"She told you?"

Max shook his head and my shoulders fell as I leaned back, eyes trained on the untouched cup of coffee in front of me.

She's everywhere.

"She's been ignoring my calls, but when I saw her back in France, she promised to tell me everything. Got any idea about what that is?"

She must've told him that before the race, meaning it had nothing to do with what happened after at the hotel.

"Yes, but that's hers to tell."

Max continued on with a rant about how I should apologize and grovel until she forgives me.

But that's the thing.

I don't know if she'll forgive me for this.

She wants something more. She wants something that I know I am not prepared to give. She's the type of person who clearly knows what she wants and wouldn't need to sugarcoat anything. She likes being straightforward and if I tell her the automatic response I almost spit out that day, there's a huge chance she'll never speak to me again.

I've been bringing her coffee every day I'm at home. During the days when I'm not, I'd order it and have it delivered to the apartment.

There was one time where I was so close to asking Henri if he could check if she picked up the coffee, but I might've looked like a stalker.

July 10, 2025 - Monaco

I was staring at the two cups of coffee before me, people bustling around in the Meeting Grounds. I managed to borrow a pen and post-it pad from one of the baristas, but I can't seem to figure out what to say.

N,

Can we please talk?

C x

I bit my lip as I stared at the words.

Sighing in frustration, I ripped off the post-it and rewrote the words.

N,

Can we please talk?
