They were sitting on the shore of the lake outside the house they rented and watched the lake shimmer from the setting sun. The skies were turning orange, matching the purple, pink and white clouds, as birds flew south and the wind softly blew through Y/n's hair. She has her head resting on his shoulder whilst their hands were intertwined together as Draco's thumb rubbed the back of her hand.

She still couldn't believe she and Draco started their relationship on this very day, and she shall truly not forget everything that has happened ever since the evening.

It may be quite unexpected for these things to happen, for she vowed to herself that she'll never marry and must only give importance to her career. But her vow took a turn when Draco entered her life. Sometimes she would wonder if she was inside a dream, but she already secretly pinched herself many times just to prove that she wasn't inside a dream. All that happened, from that evening till this day, were all real.

Though, there's still one question she has been meaning to ask. She wanted to know what "Mi Amada" truly meant. She is indeed aware that it may be something romantic, but she does want to know why he calls her such beautiful words.

"I thought you said mi amada means my friend." She told as she parted her head from his neck and looked deeply into his grey ones. "Tell me, what does it mean?"

"My darling," Draco's lips curved up and his eyes softened.

"Then why did you tell me it means friend?" She asked.

"I panicked," He chuckled. "And I wasn't supposed to call you that but my heart took over my brain and chose to almost confess to you."

"Then why didn't you confess?"

"Because I fear that you won't talk to me after confessing." He told. "It is because you told me that you swore that you'll never marry any man in this world, and that is why all my feelings for you were kept hidden."

Y/n couldn't utter any words. She, indeed, swore to never be in love due to three reasons: One, because she believes love was a hindrance to her career as her mother told her; Two, men may betray them; Three and lastly, because of the fear that it may cause one's death. The third reason came from her mother and father. That one frightful night she has witnessed.

"I'm sorry," She sighed, looking back at the lake with a frown on her lips.

"You need not apologize. I do understand." His fingers found her chin and turned her face to him. "I know you vowed to never marry because of men, but I want to assure you that I would never betray you or make you feel used. I shall love you more, more than myself. You deserve everything the world has, darling." He tucked strands of her hair behind her ears.

Of course, Draco knew that because it was obvious that she showed that she didn't want to marry because there are men who could betray their loved ones or perhaps women betraying too, and he knew too that she did believe that love was a hindrance to her career. However, he still needs to know the very main reason why she vowed herself not to marry.

"That was not the only reason why I made such a vow, Dray." She uttered, frowning.

Oh, the way her voice was soothing into his ears when he called him 'Dray' melted him more. However, he didn't want to focus on calling him 'Dray' for now, he wanted to hear the other reason why she took such a vow.

"You can tell me," He smiled, rubbing her hand with his thumb.

She took a deep sigh of breath, trying to construct how to begin and calm herself down. She knew she would cry because it was about her father.

"Hey, you can tell me sometime later." Draco smiled softly. Though, she only shook her head, smiling at the blond boy. "Alright, you can stop when you feel like you can't do it." Assurance was woven in his voice.

Y/n took one last deep breath and began to tell why she took the vow.

"It was one rainy evening. I heard my inay and itay arguing in his office. They were quite loud even though the door was closed and our servants avoided passing by the room. It was the very first time I heard them argue so loud and I could feel how hot their heads were. I just sat there on the floor with the back of my head pressed against the wall beside the door to my father's office as I watched the clock strike 10:35 in the evening. They rarely fight, though, if they do have an argument, it was really heated but it was not heated as this. This was worse." Sadness was written all over her face.

"But why were they arguing?" He questioned, sounding rather concerned and curious.

"Because of me..." She sighed and she still manages to put up a smile.

"Because of you?"

"Unfortunately, yes." She stated. "My inay told itay that I should be sent to a boarding school to study ballet but itay defended me, telling inay that I didn't want to go, for I was still young. That was true. I still couldn't manage to be apart from them at the age of 9. Though their argument went on for half an hour and I couldn't bear hearing them screaming at each other, my inay telling my itay that he was being a bad influence and didn't think what was best for me and my itay threw the same argument with my inay, until father stormed out of the room, which took me by surprise..." She paused for a while, then went again. "He or even my inay never left the room without solving their argument. It was the first time I witnessed it."

Draco felt sorry for her. He did experience witnessing his parents' argument but never like this. Never so heated as this.

"I followed him, trying to call him but he never looked at me and just got into his car and drove away that it made me run for him." She continued. "I know it was foolish of me to run and follow his car, but I really wanted to try and fix them. So I ran...and ran, calling him and shouting until I heard a crash...."

He froze with his eyes slightly wide.

"My itay got hit by a truck, which turns out to be driven by a drunk man..." Tears started to swell up in her eyes. "I could even remember how the truck hit my itay's car. It was horrid... It killed him. I just...I just stood there, shocked, and I didn't know what to do. I was in complete—" She suddenly felt Draco's arms, wrapped around her body.

Draco didn't want her to explain further, for he knew that it'll traumatize her more. It hurts him to see her suffering from such dreadful memory that cannot be forgotten. He knew that she has been meaning to tell this and to let this feeling out to someone, and now, she already did. He now understood why she was afraid to love because it caused her father's death.

Now that he knew, he promised himself that he would never leave her even though he poured so much adoration for her. He promised that he'll protect her at all costs, for he knew she deserves to have the happiness the world could give.
