It had been almost five months since the accident and winter was fast ending and spring was fast approaching. Last Christmas was the first Christmas that the Magindaras never held any Christmas ball and the first Christmas they spent at the hospital. Mrs Magindara had tried speaking to her, telling her about her day at work and about the memories that they shared together when Mr Magindara was still alive. She truly hoped that at any moment, in between the conversation, she would wake up or show any signs, telling them that she could hear them but there was none. She remained the same.

Draco was almost finished learning her language, and little by little, he could finally read some of the other words. It was a success for him even though he only understood the letter not that much yet. But he's already far and almost there. He's not giving up on her. He never will be.

Mrs Magindara had to go to work today since she had taken many days off since the accident happened. She didn't regret it, though she had a lot to catch up from work. Mrs Badeaux had gone home to cook and bring lunch to the hospital whilst they took care of Y/n.

Fatima sat there on the couch with a book on her lap, looking at Draco who was reading the dictionary she had lent him and sitting on a chair next to Y/n's bed.

"You could ask for my help, you know," Fatima suggested, grinning at the blond young man.

"I'm doing well...alone, but thank you for telling." He turned his gaze to her and back to the book.

"Anyways, how's the book? Have you told her you're halfway through it?" She closed the book on her lap, fully turning her attention to him.

"I did, and have you told her that you planned to set up Marc on a blind date with your girlfriend's sister?"

"I haven't because you are there and that's girl talk." She glared and stood up, approaching him. "So, scooch over, and you should take your reading outside and let us have our girl time."

"Let's just exchange seats and I won't listen."

"To the whole conversation?"

"Yes."

"Great, then you should put on these headphones and listen to some music. Ok?"

Spring finally came and the leaves from the trees slowly grew back to colour the beautiful country of France. The book was not yet finished but what's more captivating is that Draco had finally been able to read her letter that she never had the chance to give to him. He went through months of studying the language she grew up with and he didn't care how it consumed so much of his time.

The evening sky has pulled its blanket of stars over the afternoon sky. Draco was sitting at his desk in front of his bedroom window while the cold wind blew inside. He still could not believe that he was finally able to read the letter she had written for him. Staring at the letter in his hand made him feel an adrenaline rush, thinking this was finally it.

So, he finally opened the letter and read it.

Aking iniibig,

Nagmamahal,
Y/n Magindara

Translation:

My Love,

When I first laid eyes on you at the Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Lemmington, I thought you were not pleasant. But, all that changed when I got to know you well. My whole perspective of you changed when I got to know you. Those beautiful grey eyes and beautiful snow-coloured hair of yours that I admire so much. All of these were imprinted in my brain, just like how you held me in your hands — the hugs that melted me — and the services that you did that I never asked for. These are the reasons why I fell for you even harder.

But everything changed when you told me that you only used me. I was deeply hurt and I forced myself to forget all of the memories that I hold so dearly in my heart. I tried to forget you but I know in myself that I still love you so much and that will not change, despite hurting me.

Draco, my former lover, even though the widest sea separated us, even though how many years have passed, I will still wait for you because you are the only person that contented my heart.

With all my love,
Y/n Magindara

A tear slipped away from his eyes as his vision started to get blurry. His lips were trembling and his hands turned cold. The letter has already tears on it, smudging the ink and making some parts of the paper vulnerable. He didn't want to ruin the letter, but he just couldn't contain himself from crying.

He felt bad.

He felt bad that he had hurt her so much. He felt terrible that he made her feel that way. It was one of his promises that he would never break her heart and yet here they are. It has already been done. When they were almost mending their relationship, everything took a turn.

The guilt was still in his chest. It was so heavy that it broke him down. Then that thought came to him again, wishing that he had told her everything instead of hurting her, and maybe if he had done that, they wouldn't be in this state, waiting for so many months until she woke up. He did promise his mother, Mrs Malfoy, that he'll never blame himself again for the damages, but it was so hard. It's hard for him to stop thinking that he, himself, is one of the reasons why she ended up in a hospital bed even though everyone tells him it's not.

He wanted to make it up to her. He doesn't know if she'll forgive him, which she would but to him, he would never forgive himself and it is a burden that he made himself carry.

The only thing left that could make him make it up to her, to mend everything even in the slightest bit, is finishing the book dedicated to her, his only beloved. But could this young man do it amidst guilt?
