CHAPTER 35

ARIANA LINCOLN

The next morning, the first thing I did was to go to the file room to search for the deal folder. There were I don't know thousands or more of those cartoons that I had to look for.

My phone rang, I looked at the id it was Fred. I picked up the call.

"It better be a good reason for you to call me, Fred."

"We need to talk." He sounded serious.

"Woah! Look at you, you sound serious."

"It is serious. Last time you met Nick and talked to him."

"Did he tell you something?"

I'll kill him if he does.

"He didn't. I asked but he didn't even if I am the boss. Loyal piece of shit."

"Why did you call?"

"I know something. I found Uncle's file on Damien."

My heart started beating faster. All my actions stopped, the file in my hand was about to fall down.

Don't tell me you know about him.

Please.

Please.

"Seems like he wasn't the fool we thought he was."

"What is it, Fred?" My voice was breaking.

Jesus! No.

Not his secret. Not Aless's secret.

"Can we meet?"

"Yes. Yes we can."

"This evening, is it okay?"

"Yes."

"See you, I'll text you the place."

He knows. He knows something but how much. I need to get it and I can't tell Aless about it. He will just end Fred.

And I am not letting him do that.

I have to take care of it on my own.

"Ari?"

I turned around and Aless stood right in front of me.

"You are an amazing woman." He looked happy.

I smiled and turned back, focusing on the folders "And you got the deal."

"Damn right, I did."

"So am I getting something in return?" I asked.

He came and stood beside me leaning against the document storage rack "Yep and it is... you don't have to search for the folder anymore. That's something I have for you."

"Really? I thought you were going to step down from the CEO position for me." I joked.

He chuckled.

"So is it sorted sorted or is it for the time being."

"I am not gonna make any other deal with that man... so I guess sorted sorted."

"Good."

"Just that 'good'? I thought you'll be throwing hugs and kisses on me."

I pushed the cartoon inside the rack and leaned against it.

"I am proud of you."

"That's nice to hear."

I leaned closer to him and placed a kiss on his cheek. He looked shocked when I did that.

"Things are finally going right and I am happy about that." I said.
