Edward growled angrily as he smashed an expensive looking vase on the wall. He stood in the middle of the ruined room, panting like a raging beast. Rasmus sighed and included the vase in the list he was making about things to be replaced. He knew better than to ask his prince what troubled him so if he doesn’t want to end up like those decorations.
“Ah,” Edward yelled and dipped his fingers into his hair. Just why won’t she stop? What the hell is she doing and why is it affecting me so much? He had already been pissed when he came home and had wanted to keep the damned wolf out of his mind but try as he may, he just couldn’t. The damned mark had left him connected with her and no matter what, he couldn’t just be able to keep her from his mind.
He thought he could manage and live his life with her just being a meter away from his thoughts, however, he never expected the damned thing to be restless. He couldn’t tell what was wrong with her but he do know that the feeling was leaving him torn between staying in his palace and going over to check up on her. Thanks to his healing abilities, he wasn’t feeling the painful wounds on his back and his ankle doesn’t hurt anymore which he knew where her wounds and the stupid mark had given him the ability to feel them. He knew with the pain gone that her own wounds had been healed and he wondered if his healing properties had somehow transferred to her. Could it be the energy he felt leave him when he was mar…no, sucking her?
The whole situation was leaving him insane and he couldn’t help but pray that whatever it was that was affecting her would just stop. There was no way he would be checking up on her. If he could, he would even kill the damn thing and heaven help him when he finally figures out how to do that without hurting himself. He sure as hell knew he would make her death very painful.
“Do you feel better now, my Prince?” Rasmus asked when the man was just sitting on the sofa with his head buried in his hand.
“Do I look better, Rasmus?” Edward growled and the little servant gulped fearfully and retreated to a safe distance. Edward sighed and glanced up at the ceiling. He closed his eyes and fought to keep himself calm. “What do you know about the mating mark?”
“Well, my Prince,” Rasmus chuckled, “I haven’t found my mate yet but from what I read in our books, the mating mark keeps the two souls connected. The male could feel anything the female feels. According to logic, it is so that he would know when she needs his help and go to save her.”
“In the so called books, what happens when the mark was given accidentally?” Edward asked, glancing at him.
Rasmus frowned. “There is nothing like accidental marking in the books, My Prince. How can there by an accidental marking?”
“Let’s say the male wanted to kill the female by sucking her dry but then, he accidentally left the mark and he couldn’t even finish his earlier quest because he could now feel what she was feeling.”
Rasmus frowned even more, “but why would he want to kill her? Besides, we don’t feed on our kind. Or perhaps, she is human?”
Edward frowned and nodded after, “yes, something like that.”
Rasmus scratched his head and shook his head, “there is no record of that. Any of our kind that mated with humans always had the intention to mark them because they are mates, so…I don’t think such accidental marking has ever happened before.”
Edward exhaled deeply and closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. He finally felt the peace and quiet inside him and knew that the damned wolf might have fallen asleep. “Finally,” he whispered.
“What is that, my Prince?” Rasmus asked, having the heard the man.
“Can the mark be given when there is no affection?”
“Normally, the marks are given without affection, I guess. The blood moon rises and you just feel pulled to a certain person and then you are biting her neck, giving the mark. And immediately after, you will feel this undeniable strong bond to this stranger you just met a minute ago and when she marks you too, completing the marking process, you two would become inseparable. And you will find yourself protecting a stranger and might even kill someone you grew up with just to keep her, a stranger safe.” Rasmus shook his head in wonder, “it mesmerizes me how that thing works.”
Edward sighed, “so a male can’t give the mark accidentally?”
“It has never been recorded my prince.”
“Has it been recorded that a male wanted to kill the female, even after marking her?”
“Have you been listening to anything I said, my Prince? Once he gives the mark, he would feel connected to her and the only thing that would cross his mind ever again would be how to protect her. Because if she dies, then he would be doomed to spend the eternity alone and no one wants to be alone.”
Edward nodded, well, he could still feel the urge to kill her. He imagines how it would happen even, so she couldn’t be his mate. It could be that he was the first male to mark a female accidentally and he would be the reason it would be recorded for future purposes. He felt an internal relief knowing that the damned wolf wasn’t his mate and was just an accidental marking.
“Though they have never been a record about accidental marking, but there is something written about two people marking themselves because they were in love and believed there were mates. However, when the blood moon rose, they discovered they both had different mates and when their originals mates marked them, the previous mark disappeared, keeping them bonded to their real mates. Does that help?” Rasmus asked.
Edward couldn’t stop the smile spreading on his face. There was a way to remove the stupid mark, he just has to find his real mate and mark her. His mark on the wolf would disappear and he could finally kill the damned thing. Yes. And he was thinking all hope was lost. “Rasmus, when is the blood moon rising?”
“In eight days my Prince, we were choosing your attire earlier before you ran off.”
Edward smiled, eight days, he just has to bear her presence for eight days. Eight days only and he could finally do away with her. He leaned into the sofa with a sweet smile as he imagined the best way to kill her. No, he won’t kill her by sucking her again, least a past mistake would be repeated. How about slicing her skin out of her bones and dumping the pieces into the lake to feed the crocodiles? Or maybe, he would send her as a snack to the demons. Maybe that would satisfy them and they would forget their past experience and would forgive him for killing their princess. After all, he brought them an alpha wolf.
No, he shook his head, he won’t use her to appease the demons, he loves fighting with them. How about sending her to the witches and let them carry out their experiments with her. He would love to drink a potion made out of her blood. Mm, how tasty would that be? He smacked his lips at the imaginary blood potion. But for some reason, he wasn’t satisfied killing her that way. He thought after another way, so many different ways but none of them satisfied him until he decided to let it go. Eight days was more than enough to figure out how to kill a damn she-wolf.
Rasmus watch the man in shock, he could see the different expression flashing through his face and he wondered what the man could be thinking about. He would smile and then shake his head, and then smile again only to shake his head once more, repeating the process over and over again. “Are you okay, my prince?” he ended up asking when he couldn’t take it anymore.
Edward glanced at him and smiled, “I am perfect now, Rasmus, thank you.”
“Um…you are welcome?”
Edward sat up, “clean up this room and let’s continue with our driving lesson, I will be waiting outside.”
“Of course, my Prince,” Rasmus answered as the man walked away and he began with his task which only took him minutes. He went outside and saw the man sitting in the black Maybach and could only join him, putting every strange thing that happened tonight at the back of his mind and one of them being his strange questions about the mating mark. Although he didn’t want to think about it, he couldn’t help but wonder if the Prince had marked a poor human and he didn’t want to take responsibility or maybe, he didn’t feel the connection, hence his term, accidental marking. He shook his head, stopping himself from diving deeper into the thought. His Prince is an original, and there was nothing that comes his way he wouldn’t be able to handle.
