CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
interviews

THE entire drive up to gracie's apartment was a rush of excitement for charlotte. honestly, she'd kinda forgotten what it felt to be dating someone. matthew was the only person she'd ever dated, and even though they prefer each other as friends, charlotte doesn't regret being in that relationship with him. it was nice and she loved him while it lasted, but now just a different way. she remembers waking up early before work everyday so they could facetime and do their morning routines together while matthew was travelling in other states. she remembers how when one time she wasn't having a good day and he surprised her by taking her ice skating and spending a night with her despite him supposed to be in the other side of the city. she also couldn't forget that he was the boy she lost her virginity too.

cringing at that thought considering she was now right outside of gracie's door, she knocked and waited for the singer to open up.

gracie swung open the door and gave charlotte the cutest smile she'd ever seen, "hi." it seemed like she was the happiest to see her that she's ever been.

"hi," charlotte giggled with a brighter smile.

gracie then noticed charlotte's outfit she was wearing, styled by molly dickinson, and her jaw dropped.

"char," she breathed out with a grin and pulled her inside. "you look so good."

charlotte smiled, leaning in an planting an eager kiss on gracie's cheek, "molly styled it, she works with sadie a lot and she wanted to do something with me too. i think she picked a matching outfit for maddie too."

gracie, still blushing, nodded and walked walked to the living room with charlotte, "so uh you're not nervous for what they might ask?"

charlotte watched gracie crawl to the corner of the clutch as she crouched down to greet weenie, "yeah but, i guess i'll be fine. if they ask anything about you... deny deny deny. right?"

"exactly," gracie chuckled.

charlotte scooped up weenie and fell next to gracie into the couch. her eyes wandered down to the coffee table that was covered in papers with a variety of song lyrics scribbled onto them. she reached forwards to pick up one, but gracie swatted her hand away.

"nuh-uh, none of those are good," gracie groaned.

"what're you writting about?"

gracie shook her head, "all the things i was feeling when i texted you from my bathroom floor like two nights ago," she cringed.

charlotte pouted and gave her a soft sad smile.

"don't give me that look, i'm fine. this is how i get those... emotions out. no matter how many times i misspell 'conscientious'."

charlotte laughed, and let her hand intertwine with gracie's. "so, are you gonna write anything about me?" she asked, raising an eyebrow with a smirk.

gracie's eyes widened and she immediately lost eye contact. she giggled and nodded, "maybe. if you come over tonight?"

charlotte was about to respond with a 'of course,' but then remembered how gracie had literally never been to her apartment.

"or... you can pick me up after my interview and we can go to my place. you can meet my cats."

gracie nodded, "just know i'm a dog person."

charlotte eyes glanced down to weenie who was now sat in gracie's lap, pawing at her chest as his tail wagged infront of charlotte's face.
