CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
ease my brain
•GRACIE not so gracefully made her way downstairs, tripping over charlotte's purse laying on the floor as she rushed over to charlotte who was sat again the door, regaining her cool with hands reached out, eager for comfort.
"are they gone," the singer asked, accepting charlotte's open arms with a protecting hug, her hand rubbing her back and tracing patterns on it.
charlotte nodded, slowly calming down.
"you're okay, they didn't see me," gracie whispered, looking behind her shoulders just to fully make sure it was only the two of them.
"fuck, that really scared me," charlotte shuddered, her head burrowed into gracie's neck. she pulled away, hands grabbing softly at gracie's cheeks as she spoke, "w-what was that noise upstairs, my parents almost came to look."
"i was kind of pacing around cause i was literally scared out of my mind. didn't see one of those stupid cat toys on the floor, tripped and fell into the door—seriously how many toys does two cats need?" she asked, looking back at timber and rue who were cuddled on top of a side table.
charlotte shrugged, "never enough. you can't be saying they have too many things when weenie has his own closet of dog clothes."
"fair," gracie shrugged, pulling charlotte to her feet. unexpectedly, she wrapped her in another hug, breathing her in, "i'm just glad they didn't see me."
"me too," charlotte replied, kissing her cheek, something she noticed she liked to do a lot. "and about dinner, um they kind of ate it."
gracie hummed, "that's okay."
"luckily, i saved you a slice," charlotte smiled, eyes sparkling as she took gracie's hand and dragged her to the dining room. charlotte watched her sit down and slid the slice over to her and sat oppositely. "so, what'd you think of jude?"
"he seems sweet, didn't really get to talk to him though," gracie chuckled.
charlotte nodded, "usually i don't get with anyone who doesn't pass his vibe check, but considering he helped hide you, i think we're good," she teased.
"oh i'm honoured," gracie grinned. she looked down at her plate, then decided to keep talking. "couldn't tell if you guys are fraternal or identical though."
charlotte shrugged, "i don't know, some people say identical but like there's the whole thing that he has masculine features and i have feminine ones. i'm pretty sure fraternal though."
gracie nodded, taking a small bite.
chsrlotte glanced down to see the cats swarming her legs, meowing, "one sec, i'm gonna go feed these two. c'mon babies," she cooed, her mother side showing.
she left the dining room and went to the kitchen to fill up the bowls, and as she did, she began to wonder how gracie and her would even go out together outside of their apartments. out in public would be a mess considered they'd especially get noticed together, new york was best known for being a quiet place.
matthew used to take charlotte to little dates at coffee shops or even just for walks in town square, and she'd go home to see random pics of them walking together up on google but it never bothered her or matthew of course. now it was different.
she ran through all the places she'd want to take gracie. drive-ins, her favourite coffee shops, favourite resultants, concerts... her list could go on given she couldn't stop imagining different sceneries of her and gracie. honestly, she used to do this anyways before they even started dating like two days ago, she just thought of them as friends doing all those things though.
