CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

•RIGHT after charlottes speech, her parents left the premiere. she didn't mention it to anyone, she just climbed into the party bus maddie ordered to take them to the after party and smiled wildly at malachi as he attempted to do a backflip in a moving bus.
"malc, stop it!" maddie ordered, tugging his arm to sit him back down.
they were all dressed differently now, having changed into more after party appropriate clothing and out of their dresses and tuxes. the revealing and lacy dress she wore now was one gracie had picked out for her, not her stylists. the red she wore compared to gracie's little white dress reminded her of a devil and an angel, both of them still riding the wave of their first i love you's and having similar thoughts for tonight—unholy or holy.
"quit biting your lip and messing up your lipstick," gracie sternly said, taking the lipstick out her purse and pulling charlotte in by the chin to reapply it for her.
the actress stared up, open mouthed as gracie did so, enjoying the touch which still was a form of comfort for her regarding tonight and all that's happened in the past few hours. she pouted once gracie pulled away and let go of her, reaching forward to grab her hands for the touch. gracie giggled, letting her take her hands and fumble around with them, relaxing and bringing her attention back to her friends while gracie watched her hands in hers.
"aye everyone's coming back to charlottes after right?" caleb asked.
sadie groaned, "it's already so late it's like eight thirty," she said, head resting on caleb's stiff shoulder.
"ladies and gentleman, the youngest grandma known to man," marcus said, hand thrust out to emphasize sadie who flipped him off.
"sades, you're coming," charlotte said, eyes deep into sadie's to let her know she has no choice.
by the time they entered the after party, a rooftop event mostly filled by younger guests and a much more relaxed environment, charlotte was dragging gracie around to meet more people she knew and proudly introducing her as her girlfriend. lily was also there because god forbid this girl misses a party, especially one for her honorary sister. when they ran into her, charlotte almost forgot entirely about how she had already met gracie and was halfway through saying 'this is my girlfriend' when lily smirked and she and gracie broke into laughter.
"lovely to see you again gracie," lily said, hugging her and kissing her cheek in her fashion.
"you too," gracie smiled, pulling away and looking to charlotte who was cringing in embarrassment.
lily then passed them both a drink from the tray on the bar behind her, "it is my duty to make sure you don't roofied again tonight, so you wanna leave your shit unattended, you leave it with me."
charlotte rolled her eyes, "that will not be happening again, and thank you. but i promise, whatever drugs i do tonight will be from marcus's pocket and taken at my apartment. lils, you should come to my place with us after this."
"yeah? i mean since we're celebrating your work tonight, maybe i'll have to check," she grinned. "i'll find you later yeah? i gotta go look for your fucking twin cause he still has my necklace that i let him borrow like two years ago." with that, she stormed off to find him, leaving the two in her dust.
gracie sipped her drink, "so what does marcus hav—"
"charlotte?"
the both turned their heads, eyes landing on some random guy who charlotte was pretty sure one of her cast mates invited, though she's never seen him before.
