—Asami's POV—

I woke up finding myself big spooning Korra. I looked at her clock reading 6AM. Opal is picking us up at 7:40 so we can get coffee and snacks for the trip over.

I turned to my back to stretch, then slipped out the bed without waking up Korra. I put my glasses on and looked through my phone finding messages from my dad

Dad: Good morning Pumpkin, just wanted to wish you a safe trip.
Please keep me posted throughout the trip
And send back photos!

I smiled as I read the messages. Part of me was still scared just knowing the feeling he can hurt me again. But there's a part of me that excited and happy to have a moment like this with my dad.

I heard a knocked on the door making me get up and put pants on to see. It was Korra's mom "good morning Mrs. Sasaki" I bowed.
"Good morning Asami, I kinda figured you were a morning person, would you like to join me and Jenny for some tea and breakfast?"
"I'd love to" I gave her a smile and followed her to the living room to get to the dining table.

I wonder why P'Li loves tea so much.

Jenny was also awake, she served herself food and sat at the table, I did the same then P'Li did too.

I wondered many things about Korra's family, like why does her aunt always wears a sweater or stay in her room all day, and why does her mom always wear a headband. And why does her uncle chooses to wear turtle necks most the time, even her dad wears long sleeves, like don't they get overly hot?
But my main question is, what do each of them do for a living? I mean most of the time they're home.
But I always felt like it wasn't in my place to ask

"Are you excited for your trip Asami?" Jenny broke the ice. "I am, I haven't left republic city since we moved here" I said with a smile

"Do you know what you want to do after high school?" P'Li asked me. In reality I didn't know what I wanted to do. "I'm not sure, either continue my dad's work or something, I never really thought about it" I saw an opportunity "what did you do?" I asked

"Well, I met Korra's father while I was still in high school, he only visited my village but I knew I needed to leave with him, so I dropped out to leave with him and Ghazan" She told me

"So what do you do now? For a job"

"Oh I don't work, Zaheer is like one of those guys that's the bread winner and wants to keep his girl at home" she confessed "it worked out though, I got to be with Korra raising her 24/7"

"Does Korra know what she wants to do after high school?" Jenny asked. P'Li stayed quiet "I'm actually not sure" she was staring at her food, she then cleared her throat.

"She'd probably do something with engineering or maybe become a sports coach or something" I said with a shrug, P'Li just looked at me confused "are those the things that she likes?" She asked.
Does she really not know her own daughter like that?

"Yeah, she rebuilt her own car and she knows a lot about engineering. And she's super athletic, I mean the first time I seen her smile was when we were playing dodge ball and she beat the crap outta us" I said with a chuckle thinking back at the memory

"Korra will be fine Mrs. Sasaki, she's a quick study" Jenny said with a smile.

"How are you doing Jenny?" I asked the earthbender "still apartment hunting?"

"Yeah, everything is too expensive or far from work" she sighed in frustration

"Don't worry, you'll find something" I said giving her a positive attitude
