Jen had heard rumors about Michal, where he was.
She knew he was at the hospital. She had heard it in passing from Mrs. Nolton. Jen had woken up and drank her coffee, sipping it and wondering what was going on for the billionth time when a single knock sounded at her door. She looked up and slowly moved toward the door with her cup of coffee, preparing to splash it on anyone she didn't know. She opened the door hesitatingly, and her jaw dropped when she saw who it was: Michal.
His hair had grown out, making him look almost like a mountain man. She didn't care. Where had he been? What had he been doing, that he hadn't made the time to see her, to call her and tell her he wasn't dead?
Michal didn't say anything, though. He just stood there and towered over her in a way she hadn't realized until then.
"So, you have some questions?" Michal asked before taking the coffee cup Jen had been holding.
He took a gulp of the dark liquid, tilting his head back. Jen suddenly felt nervous; why wasn't he saying anything?
Then he kissed her.
