Jen woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of sirens.
At first she didn't know what was happening, but as the fog cleared she began to register that people were outside the building. Why?
She rubbed her eyes as she walked groggily to the door and looked through her peephole.
There were officers. Why?
She opened the door with one hand and instinctively wrapped her other arm around herself as stood in her doorway, and just in time.
The officers swarmed around Michal's door. There were only three or four, but it seemed like more to Jennifer. They rapped on the door, and a sleepy Chris opened it.
She watched them turn him around and put handcuffs on him.
He didn't even make a sound.
While all this was happening, and as she watched them grab Chris's arms and march him to the elevator, Jen only thought one thing.
Why?
