"So, what's her name?" Emily asked as she picks her up from the hospital crib. "Well I was thinking Hazel." She said. "Wow, I like it, alot." Emily said. "Thank you. Hazel Emily Parker." Lia said. "Aw, OMG, my name, I love it so much!" Em said. "I was thinking of putting Emily as her middle name since your birthday but I wanted it to be a surprise so I didn't tell you." She said. "Oh that's why you said, 'when it comes in a couple months' it's so beautiful." Emily said. "Yeah although she came a month early." She said smiling. "Yeah also, I like that you put Noah's last name." Em said. "Yeah, she needs to be able to have a connection with him, and Hazel is Noah's mom's name." Lia said. "That's so sweet, I'm sure she would love it as much as I do." Emily said.
"Well, I would name her after my mom, but she never did anything for me in my whole life." Lia said. "Yeah, that's sad." Emily said. "But I had you and Mrs. Parker, to make up for it, I should call her and tell her she has a granddaughter, I haven't seen her since the funeral, and I didn't know I was pregnant then." Lia said. "That's a good idea, she should know and be able to see her." Em said. Lia called Mrs. Parker. "OK, she said, she's on her way to the hospital." Lia said. "That's good!" Em said.
20 minutes later
Mrs. Parker gets to the hospital. "Hey Lia, may I see her?" She asked. "Of course, here she is." Lia said and gave her Hazel. "What's her name?" She asked. "Her name is Hazel Emily Parker." Lia said and Mrs. P started crying. "That's so beautiful, I'm honored, but why after me?" She asked. "Well, you are like my only real mom, you know what my situation was like growing up, and you were my only role model, and I love you like my mother." Lia said. "I love you too, and you are like my only daughter." Mrs. P said. Lia hugged Mrs. Parker. "I'm really proud of you, Lia, she is so beautiful." She said. "Thank you Mrs. Parker." Lia said. "Lia, you can call me mom." She said. "OK, I would love that, mom." Lia smiled. "If you EVER need ANYTHING, I mean anything, just call." She said. "Thanks mom." Lia said. "You're welcome sweetie." She said. Soon she left.
Hazel starts crying, so Lia feeds her. After she is done feeding, she starts crying again. Lia thought she needed a change but that wasn't the case. "Here, let me try." Emily said. Lia gave Hazel to her. Emily started patting her on her back, she stopped crying and burped. "She just had gas, upsetting her stomach." Emily said. "I'm going to be a bad mom." Lia said. She starts tearing up. "No, no, Lia, you are going to be the best mom ever!" Emily said. "I can't believe I'm going to do this without Noah, how would I even begin to tell her how Noah died and how I was the one that killed him, I was the cause of her not having a father." Lia cried. "Lia, I will tell you as many times as I need to, it's not your fault and Hazel has the best mom and wouldn't make it without you." Emily said. Thank you Em." Lia said.
