My mate pulled away all too soon, leaving me feeling alone and cold. He smiled and dipped his head closer to his chest while he looked at me, his eyes filled with peace and happiness. "Are you ready to eat?" he asked, and he raised an eyebrow in question. "You haven't eaten anything yet."

My stomach growled, and my cheeks turned red while I looked away from him. I didn't say a word because I was hungry and ready to eat, but I didn't want to face the pack just yet.

I wasn't sure how they would react knowing that I was not human like I thought I was but was part wolf and part hunter like Jess.

"Katie?" my mate asked while he cocked his head and furrowed his brows, and I turned my attention to him. Concern filled his eyes while he looked at me, and I couldn't help but slowly blink and cock my head while I looked at him, not saying a word. "Are you ok? You kind of left."

I blinked and blinked again and cocked my head further while I stared at him, confused. "Left?" I asked, and he nodded in confirmation. I furrowed my brows and shook my head, not knowing what he meant. "I didn't leave," I said. "I'm still here."

Daniel frowned and slowly blinked. He didn't say a word, but the concern didn't leave his face like I wanted it to.

He didn't believe me; I could tell, but I had no idea what he meant about me leaving when I was aware of him and our surroundings.

My stomach growled again, breaking the tense atmosphere that had fallen on us, and the worry was replaced with a small smirk.

"So are we going to go down to the dining room and eat breakfast with the pack?" he asked while he raised an eyebrow in question before he cocked his head and studied me, amused. "It seems to me that you need something to eat."

My cheeks turned red, and I looked at my hands before I shrugged and grimaced. "Is breakfast even ready?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "If not t-"

"Then, I can cook something for you, Katie," he said softly, interrupting me, before he shrugged and looked nonchalant as if it didn't bother him, and I had a feeling that it didn't, for some reason. "However, I am sure that breakfast is already done. I can ask if you want." He raised an eyebrow in question, and my cheeks turned a different shade of red while I shrugged.

I didn't respond to his question, not wanting to be a bother, even though a part of me knew that I wasn't going to be a bother to them, or to anyone in this pack.

I was their Luna, their leader, even though it didn't feel like I was the right fit...

"Katie," my mate said and took my hand in his, and I looked at him again, blinking. Worry filled his eyes while he looked at me, and I couldn't help but cock my head and furrow my brows, confused.

"Yes?" I asked while I raised an eyebrow in question. "What is it? What's wrong?"

He furrowed his brows and cocked his head while he stared at me, the worry turning his eyes a darker color. "You left again," he pointed out again, and I raised an eyebrow in question, confused because I didn't know what he meant.

My mate sighed and shook his head. "Do you not realize it?" he asked softly while he raised an eyebrow in question, and I shrugged and grimaced.

"Not really," I admitted with another shrug before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "Does it look like something is wrong with me?" I asked while I cocked my head and furrowed my brows, studying him.

"No," he said softly, and he shook his head. He cleared his throat and leaned back against the headboard. "It just looks like you have this glassy look in your eyes while you stare at me. It's like you are seeing but aren't if that makes sense."

I shrugged and grimaced while I shook my head. "It doesn't," I admitted before I cleared my throat and shifted on our bed. "I am sorry if it of-"

"Don't," he said, interrupting me as if he knew what I was going to say, and I closed my mouth instantly. "Do not say that it offends me because it doesn't."

I bit back a small smile and looked down, not able to meet his gaze, my cheeks turning slightly red. I didn't say a word, and my mate bit back a small chuckle while he shook his head.

"Come," he said before he cleared his throat and grew serious. He started to shift off the bed, and I looked at him with wide eyes, not knowing what was happening. "Do you want to eat up here, or do you want to eat in the dining room with everyone else?" he asked while he raised an eyebrow in question.

I hesitated before I slowly nodded. "Usual spot," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I don't mind eating in the dining room with the pack."

"Then let's go get you something to eat," he said. He got out of bed and held out his hand. "Shall we?" he asked while he raised an eyebrow in question with a small smile on his face.

I bit back a small smile while I grabbed his hand and let him help me stand. "We shall," I said. I looked at the way we looked and blushed when I noticed that we were still in our pajama clothes. "After we get change..."

Daniel laughed and slowly nodded. "Yes," he said. "We can do that after we change but first..." He pulled me closer to him and kissed me on my lips, and I kissed him back. "I love you," he whispered on my lips before he pressed another kiss on my lips. "I will always love you."

I bit back a small laugh before I slowly nodded and kissed him. "I love you, too, Daniel, and I will always love you, too."
