I waited, patiently, for the cookies to cool, the smell causing my stomach to growl. It had been a while since I had "real" food that filled my belly. I had barely eaten anything on the road, only eating scraps here and there or something that Sarah had, surprisingly, caught.

"Are the cookies ready?" someone asked coming into the kitchen. The person, Daniel, smiled, apologetically, when I flinched and turned his way. "Sorry about that," he said, running a hand across the back of his neck. He smiled, sheepishly, and I couldn't help but think that he looked cute. "I didn't mean to scare you."

I looked down at my hands, a blush creeping over my face. I didn't want to be scared of him, but I couldn't help it. I took a deep, shuddering breath and looked at him, forcing a smile on my face to tell him that I was fine.

Daniel looked at me with concern before looking at Aunt Jess, who set some more food in front of me. "Make anything for me?" he asked, pouting.

"No, I do have food for Sarah if she wants to join us," Jess said, looking at the door. The knowledge filled her eyes, and I couldn't help but wonder as to what she knew.

I turned that way to see Sarah, with two other people besides her, by the door. I gave her a small smile to indicate that I was fine before starting to eat the food that Jess had placed in front of me.

Sarah walked in hesitantly before taking a seat by me. She glanced at Aunt Jess before starting to eat the food that she had placed in front of her. A small moan escaped her lips, causing Aunt Jess to chuckle.

"What about me?" Daniel asked with a pout.

"You can have cookies whe-"

"Cookies!" two people exclaimed coming into the kitchen. They grabbed some of the cookies and started to juggle them. "Hot, hot," they said.

"Parker! Andrew! You two know better," Aunt Jess scowled. She glanced at me to see that I had stopped eating and was looking at the two men, fear clear in my eyes. Annoyance flickered through her eyes as she looked at the two men. "Go outside and run three laps around the city. You scared the poor girl."

I sent a small apologetic smile to the two men when the looked at me and muttered a small "sorry".

"What about the cookies? Daniel's gonna eat all of them," one of the men said. He pouted as he stuffed one of them in his mouth, even though it still looked to be hot.

"You can get your mother to make more. You should know that I make enough for all of you. You all eat like Wolves!" She shook her head and tsked. "And, you all question why we do not have food in the house."

"House? More like a mansion," Sarah scoffed, rolling her eyes. "I could get lost in this damn place."

I silently agreed because I knew that I would be getting lost in this house already, and I only had been in two rooms! I took a bite of my sandwich as I looked at Parker and Andrew.

"Don't worry, Doll Face, we will make sure that you aren't lost," the male, Parker said, winking at Sarah. He yelped when Aunt Jess threw something at him. He cleared his throat, catching Aunt Jess's look before starting to back away towards the doors. He held his hands up in mock fear as he walked backward. "Ok, fine, we are going." He ran out of the house followed by Andrew.

Aunt Jess smiled and looked at me. "That is one way to clean house." She nodded to the cookies. "Feel free to grab some cookies after you are done with the food." She glanced at Sarah. "You, also."

"What about me?" Daniel asked, pouting. Amusement shined in his eyes as he looked at me before looking at his mother.

"You, you can have some after you run around the city three times."

Daniel pouted and held his hands up in mock surrender when Aunt Jess grabbed something to throw at him. "Yes, Captain," he said before running out of the house as if a fire was set underneath his behind.

"Now, the house is cleaned." She gestured for Jesse, I think, to grab the pan. And, Jesse, I think brought the pan of cookies over to them. She grabbed one of them and took a bite before nodding. "And, these are damn good cookies."
