As Jimin walked down the long hallway, his steps echoed softly against the marbled floor, but his cold expression remained steadfast.
The events of the past week, the unsettling incident at Taehyung's mansion, had left a haunting mark on all of them. The sense of trust among them had been shattered, causing suspicion with one another.
Approaching the study, Jimin came to a stop in front of the door, his hand hovering uncertainly before he mustered the courage to knock three times.
"Come in,"
Pushing open the heavy door, he stepped into the study, the familiar scent of old books and polished wood enveloping him like a comforting embrace. The room, bathed in the soft glow of lamplight, seemed to beckon him forward, offering sanctuary amidst the chaos that had engulfed their lives.
Lisa was sitting on the swivel chair, her fingers tapping the armrests. Her eyes betrayed no hint of emotion, her posture rigid, and her gaze piercing. There was an unmistakable aura of detachment surrounding her.
The memories of their last encounter flooded Jimin's mind, the tension thick in the air as he recalled the underground headquarters and Lisa's near-fatal confrontation with Michael.
For some reason, he felt uneasy.
Why would she only call him now, after all this time? It was a question that echoed in his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Lisa's summon than met the eye, leaving him wary of what awaited him upon his arrival.
"How have you been?" Lisa's voice cut through the tension that hung in the air, her words breaking the silence like a sharp blade.
"Good." he timidly replied.
Lisa's nod was almost imperceptible, a subtle acknowledgment of his answer before she leaned back in her chair, her posture relaxed yet somehow still commanding.
"I called you here because I wanted to talk to you about something," she finally stated, her voice steady and unwavering.
Jimin didn't respond. He knew better than to interrupt her, sensing that the gravity of her words required his full attention.
"It's about Kang Yongsun's niece," she fixed her gaze on him, observing his reaction with anticipation. However, when Jimin's face remained stoic, she added. "Kang Seulgi."
The mention of his ex-fianceé's name sent an unexpected chill down Jimin's spine, causing him to freeze momentarily. It wasn't because he harbored lingering feelings for her, but rather because he was caught off guard by the sudden mention of her name in their conversation.
Upon seeing his reaction, Lisa continued. "I requested Seokjin oppa to provide me her details. You can imagine my surprise when he told me that you were once engaged to her." she says, her head tilting slightly as she recounts the unexpected revelation. "So? Is it true?"
Even though there might have been reasons to doubt, Jimin decided to be honest and straightforward by simply saying, "Yes."
"Did you knew?" Lisa questioned, hoping that he would say no. The idea of Jimin betraying her was unbearable to her.
