"Ummm Adhiraj, water...", I mumbled in sleep as my throat was feeling dry. I called him once again but got no response from him. I opened my eyes fully and found myself hugging a pillow instead of him. But where is he? I shifted my gaze towards the beside table to fetch the water bottle but I couldn't find any.
"Adhiraj!", I called for him getting down the bed. The entire room was filled with darkness, with only the air conditioner turned on making the room cold. I glanced at the wall clock, it was exactly 12.00 am in the midnight. I gulped in fear. Exactly at this time I heard that car crashing sound, I lost my mumma, my papa. Where is Adhiraj now!? I can't lose him.
"Adhiraaaj!", I called for him again getting out of the room. My eyes turned teary. I walked down the stairs towards the living room. Just when I stepped my foot on the living room a bunch of rose petals fell over me, followed by the lights getting turned on.
"Happy birthday!", everyone shouted in unison. I froze in my place. How did they know it's my birthday today!? But where is Adhiraj?
"Maa where is he?", I asked maa shivering. Everyone looked at me in amazement. It was natural, I should have told them a thank you but instead of that I am shivering in fear.
"Happy birthday sweetheart!", I heard him from behind. He was about to wrap his arms around my waist but I instantly encased him in my arms, crying like a small child.
"Sweetheart, please don't cry!", he cooed me caressing my head and making his grip around my waist tighter.
"Where did you go leaving me alone!? You promised me that you would never leave me alone, then!?", I said sniffing and crying, drenching his shirt with my sobs.
"Sweetheart stop crying! I went to arrange a surprise for you!", he replied me back pecking my forehead.
"I don't celebrate my birthday Adhiraj! It's a nightmare for me.", I said to him quavering.
"I know everything sweetheart, but from this year onwards you will again start celebrating your birthday!", he said to me pecking my cheeks. I looked at him with my tear filled eyes.
"Humne khud se wada kiya hai k aapke har dukh ko sukh mein badlenge Aaru! Aur hum hamare har kiye huye wadey ko nibhate hai, toh hum yeh wadah bhi nibhayenge!", Adhiraj said clutching my biceps with his both hands. Tears pooled down my eyes. Was he for real!? Did he really promise himself to turn all my sorrows into happiness. (I promised myself to replace all your sorrows with happiness Aaru! And I always keep my promise, and so I am going to keep this promise of mine forever!)
"I love you Adhiraj! Thank you for everything.", I said to him burying my face on his chest.
"I love you too my sweetheart! Now ready for your first surprise!?", he asked me pecking my lips. My cheeks turned red instantly. The others were watching us with a wide grin on their faces.
