‘Cause when you’re fifteen and somebody tells you they love you, you’re gonna believe them! And when you’re fifteen feeling likes there nothing to figure out, well count to ten, take it…

“Hello.” I groaned rubbing my eyes and as I answered the phone.

“Hey Riley!” Renee chirped on the other side of the phone. I had forgotten she changed her ring tone to that stupid Taylor Swift song.

“Renee it’s…” I looked over at the clock and growled when I noticed the time. “7:30 in the morning!”

“I know, I know. Michael and I were supposed to open today. But my brother called in sick so he can’t come and I can’t open by myself. I know it’s your day off but mom and dad said they would pay you for the extra shifts you come in and work today.” I sat up; I had fallen asleep on my couch again. I really only use the bed when Ricky comes over. I walked over to the fridge and frowned at empty shelves. I could defiantly use the extra money.

“Yeah, I might be a little late though.”

“That’s fine. Thanks Riley!”

“Yeah, I’ll see you in a little bit.” I hung up the phone and grabbed an orange. I quickly changed into a tank top and some sweat pants. I was a little late but I didn’t care. I walked right past Renee and into the back to change into my uniform. It was an understatement to say I was beyond cranky. I was simply not a morning person.

“How was your Saturday?” Renee asked trying to cut through the silence of the slow morning. I groaned as I stocked the shelves. “Did you see Ricky?” I shook my head. I hadn’t seen Ricky since our argument, but he called.

I didn’t answer.

I heard a sniffled and I looked up at Renee confused. Her head was in her hands, she was silently crying and sniffled as she tried to pull herself together.

“What’s going on?” I asked dropping everything in my arms and rushed over to her side.

“Riley, I’m scared.”

“What happened?”

“I think I’m pregnant.”

“Sex!” I looked up at Mr. Clark in shock. “We are going to be talking about it a lot while we read this book. So get ready to feel very awkward and bothered.” He smiled. “Now we have a total of four projects to do with this book, not including the one we did last week. Then we have a test over the book at the end. Before all of you start to moan and groan let me assure you, you’ll have fun with this first project.” Everyone smiled awkwardly as Mr. Clark gave us all a very knowing smile.

“Are all the projects going to be about sex?” Hannah asked.

“More or less yeah.” Every one giggled and snickered under their breath waiting to hear what the next project is about.

“I did my own example for your next project. This whole book is about sexually confused and frustrated teens in a very conservative and religious society trying to find their place. We have only read the first chapter and found out the main character’s close friend is gay. She wondered what it would be like to be gay and we read her fantasy of having sex with one of her friends. There is more to come trust me.
