*Alex's POV*

I made a point of tapping my foot on the porch so Rian knew I was waiting. He fiddled with his keys trying to find the one that fitted the front door. He didn't seem to notice I was getting bored of just stainding here, waiting for him to lock up the house.

"Hmmmm....." I sighed, pressing my lips together as he turned around to give me a confused stare. He finally grabbed the right key and locked up. I twisted my fingers around each other impatiently, the silent singing in my head progressively getting louder.

Rian's such a slow poke

Cant even.... I paused my little melody.

"Rian, what rhymes with poke?" He looked slightly thrown by question, but soon his expression faded.

"I don't know... hokey pokey?" He half-sang half-spoke 'hokey pokey'. and I couldn't help but laugh at his pleased smile. At that very moment, our bus pulled up in the driveway. Jack's tall, skinny frame stumbled out of the car like a baby gazelle that hadn't learnt to walk, followed by the very muscular, slightly more graceful Zack.

"Hey! Get in my van losers!" Jack squawked in a dry tone which only made my smile and Rian cringe with embarrassment.

"Only if's there's candy" I reasoned, jogging down to where he was standing and giving him a sharp handshake and a pat on the back.

"Sorry we didn't come earlier- Zack left his 15-pounder's at home" He continued.

"Don't worry, Slow-poke Rian wouldn't have been ready anyway... Him and those fuckin' keys"

"Hey!" Rian yelled, defending himself.

"I was making sure the house was secure... there is always time for safety precautions." he stated, sounding more like I-go-to-college-Rian more than I'm-in-a-band-Rian.

"I'll take that into account take into account next time I jump off a burning building Safety-man" Jack cooed sarcastically and then shook his head. Rian opened his mouth to respond but he was interrupted by one of Zack's few words.

"Is that a phone ringing?" He asked, narrowing his eyes in concentration. The chatter stopped briefly before Rian reached into his pocket and answered it. I didn't mean to ease drop but it's just so easy to tune into other people's conversations when Zack and Jack start talking about Rian's safety issues.

"Hello?....Oh hi... But- Nevermind....No, she-ah...Bye." He turned around to face me and I looked away quickly, hoping he hadn't caught me ease dropping. He said nothing after that, and even when Flyzick called us all onto the bus and Jack started cracking dick jokes he only managed to pull small laughs. Something was wrong, and I was going to get to the bottom of it.
