Tarzan

Movie 6: Tarzan (1999)

Movie Summary:

            Two separate families. One human, and one Gorilla. A human family is thrown overbroad from their ship that caught fire, and escaped to an island. They make a big large tree house with their little baby. A silver back Gorilla is seen with his mate, Kala. The two have a baby, and seem very happy. One night their baby runs away and is killed by a leopard. The two gorillas are devastated.

            While their ‘family’ travels to a new spot to sleep and feed Kala hears a babies cry. She runs from the family and comes to a large tree fort. She goes up and finds a room, torn apart with broken glass, a gun, bloody paw prints, and two bodies. She finds the baby crying, hidden in covers and takes him. The same leopard that took her baby shows up and chases them. The baby falls into a net under the floorboards and the leopard is about to take him, Kala manages to take back the baby and run back to where her family is. Kertchek is upset with what she has, but she tells him she will take care of the baby. She names him Tarzan.

            Tarzan grows up to a young boy, but it slower then the other apes. His friend tricks him into getting an elephant hair, where he accidentally cause all of them to stampede and almost kill the family. Kuertchek is angry at Tarzan, and still does not like him. Tarzan meets a young elephant that becomes a good friend.

            Now as a man, Tarzan is a great help to the family, helping with food, and staying out o trouble. Tarzan also kills the lepord that killed his parents. Kertchek, isn’t happy at first, but the two have a ‘moment’ when Tarzan offers him the dead body. They are interrupted when a gunshot goes off in the distance. They all run and hide, but Tarzan is curious to see what made he noise.

            While he goes looking for them, Jane is with her father and their assistant. They are soon separated when she draws a picture of a little monkey. The monkey wants to keep the picture but Jane says no. The little monkey cries, and its family comes after Jane is being chased, and Tarzan saves her. The two are then away from the monkey (that took her drawing, and umbrella). Tarzan realizes he is like Jane, and introduces himself, she does to. They don’t spend much time together when Tarzan leaves Jane on the ground for her father.

            Tarzan goes back to his family and tells them of the new people. Kertchek forbids them to come in contact with them. Meanwhile Tarzan’s friend and the elephant find Jane’s camp and trash it by making music. They run away as soon as Jane and her father come back. Jane is excited with Tarzan and shares the news on him. Tarzan comes back and surprises her father, and Clayton. Tarzan spends many days and hours with them learning to speak, and the how humans act. Tarzan begins to fall in love with Jane, and so does she with him. One day he sees a picture of a man giving a woman a flower, and so he decides to pick some for Jane. He comes back to the camp, to find a ton of men, packing. Jane is upset that she couldn’t see the gorillas and asks Tarzan to come with her. He says no, he wants to stay with his mother and family. Clayton however manages to get Tarzan to bring them to the gorillas, by telling him Jane will stay. They meet the gorillas but Kala is upset that Tarzan has brought humans. When Tarzan asks if she’ll stay, she still says no, and they leave. Kala brings him to the old tree house where Tarzan sees a picture of his real parents. Tarzan changes into cloths from his father, and says goodbye to Kala, his mother.            

            Tarzan goes back to Jane and she is thrilled that he is coming. Once on the ship, they are tied up and thrown in a locked storage room. Clayton has planned to take the gorillas back with them to. Tarzan’s friends come to the rescue and break them out. Tarzan runs back, ripping off  his clothes. He is too late, and the gorillas are already tied up and in cages. Immediately he helps them escape, but when Clayton is about to shoot Tarzan kertchek jumps in front and is shot. Tarzan and Kala go over to the dying leader. He is proud of the Tarzan and the moment is heart touching.

            Tarzan finishes fighting with Clayton, and he ends up killing himself by cutting all the veins on him, except the one on his neck. Clayton dies, and Tarzan goes back to his family where he becomes their leader.

            The next day Jane is leaving with her father, and Tarzan stays behind, on the way to the boat, Jane’s father tells her to go be with Tarzan and so she swims back to him. Her father also decides to stay behind.

            In the end the all live happily ever after. Jane in her jungle attire with Tarzan, learning how to speak gorilla with her father in a loincloth. THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Review:

            This is probably one of my favourite kid movies. I love the story, and how Tarzan is raised so lovingly by Kala. I also love the music. The music is so sweet, and I can’t help but tear up every time I watch this movie. I also just love every scene from beginning to end. When Tarzan is a baby, to when he is a child, then into a man. I love it all; I love his friends, which I thought was a boy. I love the relationship he has with his mom. I cannot find one thing negative with this movie.

            Some scenes that I especially love is when Tarzan is a young boy and his mom tells him they are the same, by the lake, with the song, and that special connection, I feel so warm and fuzzy when I watch that scene. I also love the ending, Tarzan on the vines, gives his mother flowers and has Jane by his side. Such an adorable movie about love and family. A perfect movie to watch with your family. Then again, I have it saved on my computer, which I enjoy watching in my free time. I’m like that with Monsters Inc too, I have already planned the date to see Monsters University. I will make sure to write a review on that too.
