Movie Summary:

At a young age Burt Wonderstone was bullied and lonely. On his birthday he gets a magic kit by Rance Halloway From then on he begins to create new tricks and picks up a friend along the way. Burt and Anton Marvelton become best friends and agree to be magic partners. Then as young men they become huge magicians. They get their own theatre ‘The Burt and Anton Theatre’ at a high end hotel. The two have their famous acts including the ‘Hangman’, ‘Man Head, Woman Body’ and another one with swords in a box. For the Man head woman body Burt always picks a pretty young woman which he takes back to his apartment and sleeps with every performance.

Ten years after their main fame their audiences have thinned out and are mostly made up of older people. Burt and Anton still do their three same tricks. Start off with the same ‘Abracadabra’ song, do the same dancing, and the same dialogue. But once off stage their ‘magical friendship’ is barely there and they are constantly going through assistants. After one act their assistant quits and so they get a backstage person—Jane to fill in since she knows all the tricks. Burt tries to get her back to his apartment but she throws him off.

On the streets Burt and Anton see Steve Gray for the first time, also known as the brain rapist. He is a creepy guy that calls himself a magician but really is just a freak. He cuts his cheek and pulls out a card out. He then stiches himself up.

Later on the owner of the hotel Burt and Anton work for talk about their same old acts. He wants them to do something new. He shows them the episode when Steve Gray held his pee for twelve days. Burt suggests holding his poo. Anton then comes up with the Hot Box.

On a street they close themselves in a square box glass box with holes they hang high up. It’s supposed to get really hot and they are to stay in it for a week straight. Burt though only lasts fifteen minutes before he gets too hot and freaks out. He causes the box to fall and the two falls out. Anton breaks his ankles and some ribs but all Burt does is yell at him. Anton tells Burt he is finished.

When Burt tries to do his performance by himself he makes a fool out of himself and the owner tells him to leave the hotel. Burt leaves but has no money since he had spent all his saving on ridiculous purchases. Burt ends up at Jane’s house. She admits that she is a magician herself and wants to partner up with Burt. He says no because she is a woman and tries to kiss her. Jane kicks him out and he ends up at a little motel. He picks up little jobs to make some money. He then finds himself entertaining old people. While doing little card tricks he finds out that Rance Halloway is living there and he becomes good friends with him. Rance teaches Burt the true meaning and passion in doing music.

Days later Burt is called in to his old boss and is asked to do a magic act at his son’s birthday, Burt agrees. Back at the retirement home Burt invites Rance to join him, and then sees Jane at the home visiting her grandmother. He also tells her about the party which she promises to attend.

At the party Rance doesn’t show up and Burt does the show without him. Before the magic show the hotel owner announces that he will have a competition to see who will be the next act at his new hotel. Burt and Steve both intend to compete. While doing his tricks Steve keeps interrupting with weird ‘tricks’ the kids don’t enjoy so much and at the end Burt ends up with a puppy biting him in his pants.

Burt then gets a call that Rance had had a stroke. After at a bar Burt and Anton reunite. Burt crying, how much he missed him. The two agree to team up to win the spot at the hotel. The two and Jane search for a jaw dropping act to perform. Jane finds the ‘Disappearing Audience’ in their journal. Anton then remembers the drug in a poor country that knocks people out for an hour. They get to work.

The competition has arrived and Steve drills a hole in his head. He ends up messing up his eye and possibly his brain, when he can’t remember drilling his head. No one’s very impressed with Steve. Burt and Anton then come on stage and do a quick little talk, Burt mentions how Rance inspired him to become a magician and plays the video he watched as a kid. The video is not really a video; it’s a box with the real Rance in it. He then comes out of the box in his older appearance. Burt and Anton then set of the mist including the drug. The audience is knocked out. When the audience comes to they are outside seated in chairs. Amazed, Burt and Anton who have now asked Jane to join their show have won the five years at the new hotel.

The Incredible Burt and Anton with the amazing Jane are now the biggest magicians. They show how they make the audience disappear by tagging them, dragging them, and tossing them in trucks to transport them. THE END!!!!!!!!

Movie Review:

This was another great movie that actually came out when Identity Thief came out. I was laughing out loud with this movie. Steve Carell was hilarious, Olivia Wilde, was gorgeous, and Jim Carrey was kinda just weird, but he was funny in the movie.

There isn’t much else to say about this movie, it was a great comedy, I absolutely loved the ending, I was literally tearing up at the end when the were dragging the drugged up people, putting some cover up on  bruised people, and then tagging them. It was so funny.

Watch this movie, if you need a good comedy to watch. So funny, it is defiantly worth your time.
