Movie 26: Taken 2 (2012) ‘They want revenge, they chose the wrong guy’

Movie Summary:

            At a funeral somewhere in Asia a man is burying his son along with other young men. He and his friends make plans to kill the man who killed their sons/brother/friends.

            After saving his daughter from being sold as a sex slave and killing many men, Bryan a body guard is very protected of his teenage daughter Kim. So when she misses their driving lessons again he becomes suspicious. Kim’s mother who is his ex-wife, Lenore lies for her but comes clean saying she is out with her new boyfriend Jamie. Bryan immediately finds her boyfriend’s house and takes her for her driving lesson.

            Next day he comes again for her driving lessons to find his Lenore crying, upset that her husband cancelled her trip plans to China with Kim. Sorry for her Bryan invites them to Asia. He says he’ll be working there for three days and after that they can come and they can have a nice relaxing vacation. She says she’ll think about it.

            After his three days of being a private body guard for someone he doubts they’ll come but to his surprise the two show up. Bryan takes Kim out and they talk about the country drink tea and discuss her love life.

            The next day while Bryan takes Lenore out to town Kim stays behind to go swim in the high end hotel’s pool. The men from the funeral are spotted.

            While in a taxi away from the hotel Bryan notices a car following the taxi. He warns Lenore, and gives her detailed instructions to get back to the hotel using side alleys, and quiet areas. He quickly gets the car to stop and gets her out of the car, he then forces the taxi driver out and drives away fast with the bad guys on him. He gets out of the car and fights them. However he is outnumbered and the men come Lenore. He calls Kim and lets her know what has happened. He tells her to go to his room and hide in the closet and wait for his call. He then crushes his phone and he and Lenore are taken.

            Kim escapes to the closet with barely enough time, the guys after her shoot security guys and an innocent man. They take off and she gets the call from her dad.

            Bryan wakes up in a dark room with his hands tied up over a bar. He takes out a secret phone from his sock. He calls Kim and helps her find his location by drawing circles on a map and throwing grenades outside from his silver box he had hidden in his closet. He tells her to take a gun and grenades and to start east throwing more grenades. He hears them and then gets his hands untied. He starts some steam from a pipe through a chimney. Kim sees it and drops the gun into the chimney. Bryan frees Lenore who is unconscious and then kills all the men guarding them. He also kills the guys chasing Kim, but when he goes back for his wife she is gone. He goes back with Kim to the U.S Embassy, he smashes through security but both are ok.

            With his daughter safe he goes back for his wife. Finding them he kills them all, and finally finds his wife knocked out. Before he can get to her he is faced with the father whose son he had killed saving his daughter in ‘Taken’. Bryan tells him his son got what he deserved since he had kidnapped tourist girls, sold them to men, and made them into owned prostitutes. Bryan tells the man he can leave with his wife leaving him alive if he promises to stop going after his family, if not he’ll kill him and be faced with whoever else might want revenge on him. At the end he ends up leaving his gun on the floor but the man lies and picks up the gun aiming at Bryan. Bryan knew what he was going to do so he had taken out the bullets earlier. He ends up cracking the man’s neck.

            Bryan takes Lenore back home and Kim finally gets her driver license. He is also ok with Jamie. THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!

Movie Review:

            I didn’t enjoy this movie as I did with the first part. The first part was a lot more interesting, I would recommend that one rather than this one. The first part actually showed you how this man kidnapped these young women, sold them, kept them in these places for men to use them. It really went into it. Even when he was tracking his daughter it was allot more in depth. This movie just seemed like the directors one day woke up and said ‘hey let’s make a sequel! All those dead guys in the first part will have fathers that want revenge! Let them take his wife this time!’ pretty lousy. So I’m guessing next part they’ll make that father he killed brothers come after him and they’ll take his dog or maybe his mailman. Yeah , they should have just ended it at part one.

            However I did still like this movie a little bit. Some parts were pretty good. I liked how that guy is like a killing machine. He just doesn’t stop killing! I also liked how he got his daughter to find him using the shoelace and map, and pen, it was pretty cool. I just love Bryan, he’s awesome. I found it weird though how normal Kim was, you’d think after being what she went through in part 1 she’d have some problems….
