Movie Summary:

Louis an old vampire meets with an interviewer. He tells him he is a vampire and tells him his life story, of how he came to be.

Louis hated his life since his wife and child died in childbirth. He wanted to die and didn’t care about his life. After being kicked out of a bar he meets Lestat outside and he bites Louis. Louis feels as if he is dying and the next night Lestat gives him his blood and Louis is turned into a vampire. Louis immediately begins to dislike being a vampire; he doesn’t like to feed on humans and begins to drink rats. After a little while of living in Lestats large mansion, Louis sets it aflame after killing his servant. Lestat is furious at Louis for his actions and Louis runs away. He ends up biting a little girl and then leaves her to die. Lestat turns her into a vampire to keep Louis with him.

Louis falls in love with the young girl, and him and Lestat raise her as their own. After thirty years of living peacefully the girl does not want to be little anymore but to grow up and have a woman’s body. She hates Lestat for turning her into a vampire and hides a rotting body in her room. She then plots to kill Lestat by feeding him dead blood and cutting his throat open. Lestat falls asleep and they throw him into the swamp looking like a zombie. Louis and the girl plan to move out but Lestat comes back looking dead, Louis sets the house on fire and takes off with the girl. Leaving Lestat in ashes.

The two travel around the world and search for other vampires. Finally when they give up they are confronted by Armand. He brings them to his underground home with a dozen more vampires, he also takes them to their shows they put on about vampires. Armand wants Louis to stay and leave the girl but he refuses Armand’s offer. Later on the little girl asks Louis to change a woman into a vampire so she can have a mom. Louis bites her and lets her drink from him, turning her into a vampire. Moments later the other vampires take them all and bury Louis in a coffin and lock the little girl and her new ‘mother’ in a room where the sun will shine, the two burn and Armand sets Louis free.

Louis goes on with his life, depressed and many years pass. He watches movies and the whole world changes. He then meets Lestat who hasn’t drunk any human blood since he was with him and the little girl. He begs Louis to come back but Louis says no and leaves.

Louis finishes his story and the interviewer is mad at the ending and asks to Louis to turn him. Louis refuses still depressed from his vampire life. The man takes off and while on the road listening to the tape Lestat jumps in his car and bites him, then giving him the choice of vampirism, which he wasn’t offered when he was human. THE END!!!

My Review:

This was a very good movie, I might have missed some stuff in the summary but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen this movie. Anyways I loved the make up and the vampires, they all looked dark and sexy. The overall movie concept was great, I loved Louis’s life story, and Lestat’s badass attitude. He is the best vampire.

Now some things that I wasn’t too happy about. Although Lestat is a great vampire, he doesn’t look very masculine, I know that in the book Louis is his ‘companion’ but still they could have made him look a little better. I also didn’t really like the little girls character. I found her to be annoying and I was happy that she died. I also didn’t get the purpose of the naked woman during the vampire play. Like literally she was pitch naked, there wasn’t purpose to it. If anything they should have kept her in all white to make her seem pure when they bit her instead of naked.

Lastly I really liked the ending, it was great. Lestat back and ready to kill again. I loved also how he laughed at the tape saying ‘I’ve heard him whine for centuries’ or something like that, really great ending.

Overall a very good movie I would recommend to every vampire lover. 4 stars!
