Movie Summary:

A young girl named Sally has moved to her dad’s house. He is renovating an old home, that was once the home of the artist. He has made her a room, but he plans to sell the house and get it on architects digest. Sally doesn’t like his new girlfriend Kim, also the interior designer for the house reno.

Sally explores the home and garden. When Kim isn’t watching, Sally goes off to a secluded part of the garden at the back of the house. She is drawn to a bush against the house, she leans in close, and begins to push her way behind the bushes. She ends up finding a window to a basement. Suddenly the gardner drags her out telling her to leave. Kim and Sally’s father come to see what is going on and check out the window. They realize that it is in fact the window to a basement. They go in the house and find a false wall, leading to the basement door. They go down into the basement to find it to be the artists secret room. Sally is drawn to a fireplace and wants to open it.

The next day Sally sneaks down to open the fireplace door. There she manages to open the door and you can hear creepy little voices thanking her for freeing them.

As a few days go on Sally is being haunted by these creepy little black creatures. At first they want to be her friend but as time goes on they start tormenting her. Sally tells her father and Kim about them, but they don’t believe her.

Later on Kim starts to believe Sally when the gardener is hospitalized after trying to close the fireplace door. Kim does some research and decides Sally isn’t safe in the house when she discovers the creatures eat little children. Kim tells her boyfriend this but he says it’s nothing and insists them to stay for a party he will be having for the house.

When the guests arrive Sally is armed with a camera so she can snap flash photos of the creature to get them to hide, since they don’t like light. Sally manages to take a picture of a creature, but another one gets the picture and tears it up. During the part y Sally gets locked in a dark room where she is being attacked. Her father manages to get her out but by then the creatures are gone.

The party ends and Kim insists she leave the house with Sally. Her father still is skeptic about the idea but while packing to leave the creatures shut off the power, lock up and knock out Sally’s dad, and knocks out Kim. The creatures then drag Sally down to the basement with rope tied to her feet. While going down the stairs Kim awakes with a huge gash in her knee. She goes down and stops Sally from going down into the fireplace. She wraps the rope around her knees and cut Sally’s rope. Sally is freed, and her father comes to grab her. Meanwhile Kim is pulled back to the fireplace and her knees crack inward, from the pull on the rope around them. As Sally’s dad tries to get her Kim goes down the fireplace and is gone.

What seems like months later Sally and her dad visit the house to leave a picture of her and Kim who she had come to love during the incident with the creatures. As they leave the picture is blown down to the fireplace which had been heavily closed. We here Kim’s voice saying someone else will come and they will get them. Da, da, da!!! (Scary music) THE END!!!!!!

My Review:

This movie was quite good. It was interesting, different, and cool. The little creatures were creepy and looked amazing. They had that scariness to them that made me want to sleep with the lights on. (joking). Anyways this movie had a mix of horror, and intellectual aspect to it.

This film was unique and I was very into the movie. I found the whole story of the creatures eating kids very good, but I didn’t get the ending very much. I didn’t get how Kim became one of them. I’m pretty sure she did. The ending kind of confused me but the part when Kim broke her knees like that made me cringe! I really hate the sound of breaking bones.

Ok so this was a good movie, and I would totally say you should watch this movie. Won’t be a waste of time!!!
