Sophia stood there, her mouth agape. Like really? How in the world can a plan like this back fire? Why the hell would he wear those black colour pyjamas on a dinner? And how did he manage to look so good in them? And how did he even manage to know her plan?

She zipped her lips as she looked at him , her eyes hard and shooting daggers at him.
"These are for you, Mrs Morin" Sophia gave him a puzzled look, and soon realised he was talking about the roses. "Thank you" She took them in her hands as he stretched his own. His nerves could be seen, and his muscles too.
"Please come in" She stepped aside, as he walked in, his steps slow and calculated.

"I smell Indian" He comments. Sophia nods as she gestures for him to go towards the living area as she settles the bouquet over the side table. "You've got a very highlighted smell sensitive nose, like certain someone. Some animal" She smiled sweetly at him, doing a mental victory dance for insulting him. "A dog" He smiled back, clearly unaffected. She narrows her eyes but ignores him none the less. She walks along with him to the living room where Serenity was talking to someone over the phone. Sophia raised her eyebrow at her and she quickly hung up. It was rude to ignore guests. She jumped off of the couch and walked towards him "Hi" She smiled at him , showing off her pearly white teeth and bright blue eyes. Sophia could lie all she wants but deep deep down, she knew she loved her blue eyes which she got from Conner. "Hi princess" He replies softly catching Sophia off guard. How sudden is he in changing his demeanour when he's with Serenity. The little kid smiles at the nick name he had given her, the same her father uses for her.

"You two can talk while I get the food ready" She gives him one last look which says 'don't-do-anything-stupid' and walks into the kitchen. She knew he had come here for Serenity so she should be giving them some time to know each other. She took the food out and placed them in the bowls, and then one by one heating them in the microwave.

All the work took almost 15 minutes of her time as all the food was set on the table. She walked into the living room and called both of them over the table. Once they were all seated Sophia served the food to her daughter, along with their uninvited guest.

"Mrs Morin, the food was very delicious" Conner complimented her as she nods slipping on the glass of water, clearly pissed. To her surprise and displeasure, Serenity really liked Conner. And the worst part was, in those damn 15 mintues she left them together, Serenity had a pet name for him. Con-Con. How can he get so comfortable with her to get her to keep such an absurd pet name for him. "ConCon the ice cream " Serenity whined. Sophia almost choked on her water. Did her daughter just whine? That too in front of him? She looked at her bewildered and then back at him. What the fuck happened in those 15 minutes?

"Sure bub. Tomorrow I'll take you there" He smiled as he patted her head. Bub? How dare he call her bub! That's only for her to call her daughter bub.

Sophia knew that all these thoughts were absurd but to hell with logic. Her worst fear was comming true in front of her eyes. Soon she'll have to let go of her daughter either because she liked him better of because he told her the truth. Somewhere deep deep down, this fear was eating her alive.

"Mommy?" Serenity shook her mother, clearly surprised by her mother's behaviour today. First of all she wore pyjamas to dinner, then she's ignoring Conner and now she's zoning out. What was wrong with her?

"Yes dear?" She smiled at Serenity sweetly but on the inside she just wanted to run away from him and take her daughter with her.
"Can I go out with ConCon tomorrow for an ice cream treat? He said they give extra chocolate chips and syrup there" Her eyes glinted with excitement and hope. How could she say no to those big blue eyes? "Sure!" Sophia replied, but she was anything but sure.
