We're sitting in the lunch hall
The clatter of utensils
and the chatter of students
fill my ears.
I look down at my lunch box
and smile, but it feels
bitter, forced and empty.
"Studying is the one thing I know how to do, Noreza."
"I'm just saying what everyone else thinks."
She gives a noncommittal shrug.
"Do you think that way too?"
"Yeah, I do. I think you should
stop showing up the rest
of us all the time."
Noreza plays with her food
Tossing it this way and that
As if saying that
Affects her more
Than it effected me
"Oh...I'll try."
