It's heartbreaking
when you realize that
happy memories
pass the quickest,
while, on the other hand,
sad memories are the onesthat stay the longest.
Like unwelcome guests,
they fester in your minds,
rotting the edges of your thoughts.
The bad experiences
clinging to you like
maggots.
The summer holidays
pass in a blur of swimming pools
and reading fantasy books in the librarywith Suki, Mei and Kiya.
Our friendship grows stronger
with every passing day and,
when the cool breezes of summer turn chilly
and the leaves start yellowing,we make a promise
to stay friends through whatever may come,
thick and thin,to not let anything
or anyone
between us again.
