The day goes by in the speed of light
Ann- no, Mother
She takes us to the aquarium
And talks to us as we walk
Amongst the sharks and stingrays
"Do you like living with your father?"

"Why are you asking?"
I'm not hopeful
At least, that's what I try
To trick myself into believing.

Adults never ask questions
Out of curiosity.
They have motives, always.
I look to Suki for help,
"I don't know. Suki, you?"
Suki looks over
From her place next to
The glass tank of turtles.
She shakes her head,
Then turns her attention back
To her slow newfound friends.
