Mei offers
in her broken English
She offers me to come over to
spend the night at her house
it's down a few alleys from the school
She says her family would love me
but I decline for today
because I want to spend
as much time as i can
with my saviors
with the people
who proved to me
that I could smile again.
So I rush out of the door
together with her
because Mei
wanted to help me as much
as she could
so she carries my bags
as we run down the hallways
and out of the school entrance
I turn around
take my bags from her
and give her the biggest smile
I can manage
She blinks at me in surprise
then a grin of her own
graces her thin lips
and she flips up two thumbs
and laughs
"Ganbatte ne!"
