feeling rises from my gut.

I whisper.

I miss her so much

What if she doesn't want me back?"
Fear embraces my heart
with her icy claws and
my vision blurs with
unshed tears.
"She will, sweetheart.
And it's okay if she has
another friend."
Mother scoots closer
and pulls me into a
warm hug.
"You don't have to have
only one friend, darling.
There's no rule like that.
You can be friends with
both of them, Mei and..."
"Kiya, I think?"
"Kiya, see isn't that a lovely name?"
There's a pause.
Then,
