Cal's POV

The "date" with David was so much fun. I was totally honest and didn't want to label it as a date since I

didn't really do that kind of thing. We agreed to eat breakfast at Starbucks on Wednesday before I had

to go to school. The only problem with that? That was Jack and I's breakfast time. I felt kind of bad for

blowing him off so I told him that I would repay him. He shrugged it off, telling me it was fine but I still felt

bad. On Tuesday, after school I decided to get some coffee, NOT because of David but because I

actually wanted some. Wow, big shock. Anyway, I was wearing what I had worn to school and feeling

good. Large sweater, ever so slightly see through, but not really so I wore a bandeau under it. Leggings

and tall boots made the outfit complete. My hair was down and wavy. I was about to walk in when I saw

a couple practically eating each other's faces beside the shop. Wow, I thought, if they are trying to be

discreet, they are doing a bad job of it. I almost laughed and that's when I realized, that was... no, are

you serious? Shite.

Jack's POV

My phone rung as I was doing homeword and the caller I.D. said "Cal." I answered immediantly. "Jack,

um... can I come over?" Her voice was slightly different but I couldn't tell why. "Yeah, of course.

Everything okay?" She cleared her throat and said, "Yeah, I'll be over in a minute." A couple minutes

later, a familiar yellow vespa pulled into my driveway. Cal walked inside and I heard her greet my mom

downstairs. Footsteps came up the stairs and Cal came in and flopped down on my bed, face first.

"Ow," she muttered. I got out of my chair and sat down on the bed next to her. I stayed silent, knowing

she would say something whenever. She sat up and sighed. Her feet didn't quite reach the ground, so

her feet kinda swayed like a child's. A strand of hair was blocking her face from me so I put it behind her

ear. She looked at me and her eyes were pained.

"Jack, I went to Starbucks today... and saw David." I clenched my jaw, not knowing where this was

headed. "He was on his break and he was, um he was..." She swallowed, "He was making out with

another girl. And I kinda yelled at him, which wasn't very nice of me." I laughed in my head at how

innocent she was, it was kind of adorable. "And then the other girl got mad at him... and then he called

me a bi- you know what? Let's just say he called me a not so nice word." I balled my hands into fists "I

called him a douche... and then walked away." She looked at me uncertainly, as if waiting for my

response. I bit my lip and thought for a second. "Well first of all, if you want, I can go beat up this guy for

what he called you," she rolled her eyes like she thought I was kidding, "and second of all, you are

acting very calm about this. How do you feel about it?" She looked down at the ground. "I don't know... I

can't be terribly upset because we weren't exactly dating or anything. But he said he liked me a lot and

he wanted to be with me. And then, seeing him with another girl, I mean that kinda... hurt. I feel like this

is a movie or something and not real life." She looked like she was trying to be tough, she didn't want

me to see her be vulnernable but she also looked sad and hurt. I gave her a soft smile and said, "I

know." I wrapped her in a hug, her figure enveloping perfectly into mine. I breathed in her scent of

cinnoman and vanilla. The smell that never got old.

Cal's POV

The next morning, the routine was normal; Jack came to pick me up so we could go to breakfast before

school. He kindly suggested going somewhere other than Starbucks, which I thought was sweet. We

ended up going to a small donut place about 2 minutes from school. This morning, I was wearing red

sweater leggings, a large chocolate colored sweater and a chunky white infinity scarf. My hair was

pulled into a messy braid and I was wearing short UGGs. I was all out of contacts so I was squinting at

prices and Jack finally asked why. I huffed, "I'm out of contacts, my mom forgot to order new ones." He

looked at me funny. "Don't you have glasses?" I sighed.

Jack's POV

We were getting our donuts and Cal kept getting really close to signs and stuff and bumping into little

things. It was like she was half blind. Finally I asked her and she said her contacts didn't come in. I told

her to wear her glasses and she went back to the car. When she came in, she was holding them in her

hands, like she didn't want to put them on. "Cal, just put them on, what's the big deal?" She bit her lip.

"Okay, just... I'm not the cutest person in glasses. Don't tease, okay?" I rolled my eyes. I was fully

prepared to believe what she had said, that she didn't look good in them but... She put them on and my

mouth fell open. I quickly shut it. She was even more adorable with glasses. When she put them on,

she became a shy girl next door kind of character. I didn't understand why she thought I would make

fun of her. "You should wear glasses more often." She blushed and nudged me with her shoulder.

"You're just saying that because you're my friend." She ordered her donut and I shook my head. This

girl was blind, and not the physical kind.
