Cal's POV

The day of the Fall Dance arrived. I drove to Laura's on my vespa to get ready with the rest of the girls.

Maria, Margaret, Meg, Ann, and Hallie's cars were already there. I grabbed the bag with my stuff in it

and walked inside. "Hi Mrs. Steph!" I greeted Laura's mom as I walked in. She pulled warm cookies out

of the oven and looked at me. "Hi dear. How are you?" She grabbed me in a hug. "Cookie?" I grabbed

two and stuffed one in my mouth. I smiled my thanks and she pointed me towards the upstairs. I walked

up and heard laughter. Laura's room was on the right and they all grabbed me in a hug as I walked in.

"Let's get this party started!"

I began to weave Maria's hair into an intricate bun. When I was finished, I looked proudly at my job. I

continued to do everyone's hair differently and then my own. My hair was in a half up half down style. It

was two waterfalls combined into a small fish tail. I curled my hair slighty so it was even more wavy than

usual. My makeup was simple but made my eyes pop. Black winged eyeliner made my eyes bigger

and barely - there gold eyeshadow brought out the golden flecks in my eyes. I pulled on my dress and

grinned. The flowing gown was white which changed to shimmering gold halfway down. I clasped on

my arm band around my bicept. I smoothed the sweetheart neckline and heard a gasp behind me. I

turned around to see my friends staring. "Cal... that it GORGEOUS." I smiled to myself, I hadn't shown

them my dress, I had wanted it to be a surprise.

"You guys look amazing too." Hallie was wearing a coral sleeveless dress with gold heels. Maria, a

black strapless gown; Laura, a light blue gown with a v neck; Margaret, a cobalt blue one with a

braided band around the waist; Ann, a light pink short dress with lace; and Meg, a purple gown with a

sweetheart neckline. We all looked in the long bathroom mirror. "We are gonna be the most fabulous at

the party." Margaret stated. We all laughed and grabbed our stuff.

Jack's POV

I smoothed my suit and grimaced. I hate suits, they remind me of funerals... like my sister's for instance. I

walked downstairs and waved goodbye to my parents. I got in the car and my phone blinked. I got a text

from Cal saying that she was at Laura's. I turned the car on and started to drive to Laura's. When I got

there, I hopped out and walked up to the door. Before I could knock however, it opened and there stood

Cal. My jaw literally dropped. She looked amazing. Her dress made her look even tanner and

accentuated her athletic body. I blinked. She punched my arm lightly. "Jack, stop." I shut my

mouth. "Cal... you look amazing! How do you do it?" A small smile formed on her perfect lips and she

rolled her eyes. "Let's just go already." I shook my head. "Nuh uh princess. You are my official date

tonight and I have to treat you nicely. It's going to be hard but I'm gonna try." She laughed and I winked.

I stuck out my arm and she linked hers with mine as we walked to my car.

I opened her door and she got in. We began to drive to Uncle Charlie's, (the restaurant, not my actual

uncle) and I realized that I couldn't take my eyes off her. When a car honked at me for the third time Cal

looked at me exasporated. "Jack, keep your eyes on the road! What are you staring at?" I wanted to

say, the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, but instead, I cleared my throat and said, "Uh, nothing."

Cal's POV

We arrived at the dance after eating at Uncle Charlie's (which was amazing) and I gasped. They had

completely transformed the gym and it looked amazing. I pulled off my heels and grabbed Jack's hand.

We walked on the dance floor to a couple of our friends that were already there. Anders and Margaret

were already dancing and we joined them. Margaret smiled at me just when a slow song came on and I

looked around for Jack. Someone grabbed my hand and spun me in a circle. Jack pulled me close and

put his hands on my waist. I shook my head and put my arms on his shoulders. The best thing about

dancing with your friend? It's not awkward at all when there is just the music playing. You don't have to

talk, you can if you want, but the unspoken words are not uncomfortable. He pulled me even closer and

I smiled in spite of myself. My stomache fluttered. Wait, what? Why is my stomache being like this? I

looked up at Jack and he was smiling at me. "What?" He shook his head. "Nothing. I'm just happy you

came with me, that's all."  I thought, uh huh, but I didn't say anything.
