Why Wattpad Drives Me Crazy - Part II

I remember the days when Wattpad was a chilled place

WHEN THERE WERE NO FUCKING ADVERTISEMENTS

I was reading a book and next thing you know,

"Want to continue reading this? Watch the video!!!!"

And it gives me no fucking choice but to watch some dumb video about a stupid game that I will never fucking download in my life

And thing is, I'd noticed some other ads before, but I didn't think it was to the extent that I'd be prevented from reading a book by a damn video

And I remember Wattpad used to stand by the fact that it doesn't make money or whatever

But I guess the bigger you grow, the more your vision just turns into dollars huh

Like I'm honestly so confused. What the hell?

I really tried googling why Wattpad has ads now and I read some shit about it which I was too angry to understand. But I picked up two main things:

"Native Wattpad writers have hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of reads...They are passionate about creating the stories that the Wattpad community wants to read, and their built-in fanbases are the perfect amplifiers for your brand's story."

Hold up.

So essentially, Wattpad is literally jumping onto the writers that WORKED DAMN HARD to build THEIR OWN fan bases and USING THEIR WORKS to MAKE MORE MONEY?

Do the writers get ANYTHING out of it? Oh somebody, please tell me that they do, otherwise I'll be so done with this shit

To make matters worse:

"Our native ads are 30x more effective than traditional display ads as they integrate directly into stories to ensure your brand has a voice on Wattpad. Our users love clicking on your promoted content in our native ad units as they trust it will be entertaining."

"Our readers love clicking on your promoted content"??????? HOW THE FUCK DID WE ARRIVE AT THAT DAMN CONCLUSION WATTPAD, HOW THE FUCK??? DID YOU EVER ASK US??? DID YOU EVER GO UP TO THE READERS AND ASK, "HEY, DO YOU LOVE TO CLICK ON THE PROMOTED CONTENT OF USELESS BRANDS?" AND IF YOI DID THAT, DID WE SAY YES?

And how did you arrive at the conclusion that we, the readers, "trust it will be entertaining" WHO THE HELL THINKS THAT ADS ARE ENTERTAINING LIKE YOUTUBE ADS WERE BAD ENOUGH WHEN THEY CAME OUT AND THEY STILL ARE LIKE HAVE U TRIED TO LISTEN TO A PLAYLIST THAT SHIT IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH THE ADS
