TWO MAJOR REVEALS COMING UP DON LEAVE

LOVE MEH

::

So I've been keeping you guys on your tails with my "hints" that I've been writing a secret "sexually explicit" book on a hidden account

Well, not so hidden because:
(1) I made a stupid ass mistake and spark_ely  caught me clean hahaha

(2) I will reveal to you my account name and the book at the end of this chapter

That is, right after I talk about what I've learnt from writing it.

Without further ado:

The Porno Experiment.

How it began:
I was sort of pondering over the fact that many good good proper books don't do as well as uselessly written books on Wattpad. You know how much I hate this, as I've ranted about it several times.

So what I wanted to do was compare a new novel I was writing against this porno book. The porno book was to have the following features that other useless books seem to have:

✔an extremely suggestive cover

✔️super short chapters

✔️little to no description; more speech instead

✔️little character development; one-dimensional characters

✔️a shitload of sex scenes

✔️basically zero plot

Now, I gave it around a month. Comparing it against my other novel, I was proven correct in my presupposition. First of all:

(1) A lot of people seem to prefer easier reads, where the short chapters mean they don't have to absorb much information.

Good thing? I mean sure, it enabled me to get more reads because readers scroll more through the chapter

Bad thing? Yes, because it meant that I could barely explore much plot within each chapter.

(I guess that's what I wanted though, but seeing that many other shitty Wattpad books do that, then ofc that's the issue, there is little plot progression in the chapters)

(2) they also seem to like books that have there basically is no plot whatsoever because again, it's just an easy read and nothing more.

I didn't/haven't given the book enough time to start gaining a proper proper following, mostly because I'm lazy, but statistically speaking:

🤔 it managed to gain a ranking much faster than my other novel

🤔 more people added it to their libraries than the other novel. Alas.

As usual, I had my trusty sidekicks - Caragh (it still doesn't let me tag you babes) and AstroGage  (and also @shellie22!) giving me their feedback on the book, and they actually liked it.

These are the main reasons they gave me:

(1) I was writing without caring about what people would think.

(2) or without thinking myself. I hadn't planned any of it, and so I was literally just going with the flow.

I think that maybe I now understand why some really shitty books can get so many reads. It's because not everyone on Wattpad takes books as seriously as other people.
