"Can I take you out, Dan?" Phil asked as we sat on his couch.
"Like... Outside?" I played with his hand, rubbing my fingers in circles against his knuckles.
"On a date." Phil replied, staring at our hands on my leg.
"We could watch a movie... Stay inside." I suggested.
I heard Phil sigh. "It's a beautiful day out. I know you're afraid of the sun, but we have to go out and live."
"We can live inside too."
"I'm trying to be romantic, Dan!"
I laughed. "You really wanna take me out?"
"I do. Where do you want to go?"
"We could eat?"
"Restaurant dates are full of pressure. You always need something to say."
I nodded in agreement. "I don't know, bowling or something."
Phil gave a weak response and turned his hand over to lace our fingers together.
"What about the new exhibit at the museum? People of space, whatever it's called."
"Member that time I tried to tell you about Armstrong? You don't like astronauts."
"But you do." I looked over at him. He kept his gaze on our hands, but I watched him smile. "Let's go."
