I watched as she stood over me, grinning, victorious. She'd won. She had gotten what she wanted, finished her job. All she had to do was eliminate the small targets, remove them from the equation like she had done with me. Only she wasn't going to be so worried about finishing me off like before.

"Say hi to Anna for me."

I could feel the stain of my dress grow cold with each passing second, and the pain had numbed. All I could do to stay awake was move my hand to stimulate the pain, but it was so easy to fall asleep. Why couldn't I just give up? I'd fought once before, made it out. The accident wasn't the only moment in which I was supposed to decide if I wanted to live or die, apparently.

I heard the door slam shut, followed by laughter.

I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. The desire to just rest was right in my face. So I closed my eyes.

And I let go.
