Ngayon ang unang araw ng Division Schools Press Conference. The venue will be at a school in a nearby town. Halos tatlong oras ang biyahe at may nirentahang dalawang van ang school para sa amin.
My parents drove me to school at around five in the morning because we're set to depart at six. The opening ceremony will be around ten and the main competition will be tomorrow.
Kinakabahan ako. Ewan ko kung para ba sa contest o dahil magkasama kami ni William ng halos isang linggo.
"Let us know when you get there, okay?" paalala ni Dad habang ibinababa ang luggage ko.
"Good luck, honey." Niyakap ako ni 'Ma ng mahigpit. Parang ayaw pa nga niya akong pakawalan!
"Yes po. Thanks for driving me here. You two should go on a date!" I answered.
"Your Dad never asks me out. Puro ako na lang," 'Ma said and pouted.
"What?" Dad asked, seemingly clueless.
"Totoo naman!" pakunwaring tampo ni 'Ma.
"Hello, nandito pa po ako?" tawag-pansin ko sa kanila. Natawa ako kasi parang may sarili na naman silang mundo.
When I look at them, I know that they are still deeply in love with each other.
Mom pulled me and Dad into a hug. "My treasures," she said.
Just while we were letting go from our huddle, car pulled over behind ours. Siyempre, automatic kaming napatingin sa kakarating.
I immediately froze when I saw William getting out of the front seat. Dumiretso siya sa trunk at mukhang para ilabas ang luggage niya.
Before I can ask my parents to go, my mom squealed.
"Lily!" Tumakbo si 'Ma para salubungin naman ang lumabas mula sa driver's side.
Out of all the scenarios I imagined last night, this never crossed my mind!
"Lily's son attends this school din pala. Kilala mo ba? Anyone Mercado?" Dad said to me. Pareho naming pinapanood ang dalawa na parang excited magkuwentuahan.
"Yes po," mahina kong tugon.
Nilingon nila kami. Mom pointed at me and I gave them an awkward wave. Samantala, lumitaw na ulit si William at dala na niya ang kanyang mga bagahe. He's bringing one backpack and a duffel bag. Tapos ako, isang maleta!
Nilakihan ko ng mata si William nang magtama ang tingin namin.
"Why?" he mouthed.
"Let's go say hi," ani Dad bigla.
"S-sige po," alanganing sagot ko habang naka'y William pa rin ang tingin.
He looks calm but I'm really worried. This is one of the things that agitated him.
