Chapter 1

Hey Everyone I am Ashlyn Ray Combs and I am 18 years old from a city in upstate New York I am 5’3 I have long wavy dark brown hair with honey highlights and Hazel eyes I am half Native American and half white. I also have a twin sister name Braelyn May Combs she is 5’5 with light brown straight hair with blonde highlights and Hazel eyes. We are identical twins so the facts that are hair is different colors helps people tell us apart. We also have different personalities I am the tough, don’t take any crap from anyone type. The epic lover and fighter type of person. I give my all or nothing at all so let’s just say I’ve had my heart broken a couple times. She is more of the rational and reasonable person she is organized and careful with everything she does. So we are like ying and yang we balance each other. I keep her wild and she keeps me safe. We are graduating this week and we are excited because our parents are sending us traveling as a graduation present but we don’t know where yet and then we are starting school in Tennessee. We can’t wait to get out of New York we are always joking that we should have been born and raised in the south because our mom and dad are both from Georgia but when they graduated from Georgia Southern my dad got a job as an Engineer in New York and my mom is a Nurse. All our family is pretty much in Georgia and Tennessee so we would spend summers on our family’s farm in Georgia. We own a small horse ranch as well but it’s nothing like our families farm in Georgia. Excited would be an understatement we are ready to go. We are going Belmont because they have an amazing music program where I will be majoring in Music industry business and Brae will be majoring in entertainment industry business and we will both be minoring in singing and songwriting. This is going to be awesome.

Ashlyn’s POV:

“Brae are you excited we are graduation on Friday and we are leaving for our trip after that.” “Of course I am Ash what kind of crazy question is that”” I don’t you were over there quiet so I figured I’d start a conversation. I’m just excited to go wherever the rents are sending us” “I am too I hope it’s nothing lame” “Me too Brae and there better be hot guys to choose from” “Seriously Ash” ”What? We will never see them again so what’s the big deal.” Brae is such a prude and a mom. She is still a virgin and wants to wait till she is in true love. Me on the other hand I’m not I lost my virginity a couple months before my 17th birthday to guy a guy I thought I loved and we had been dating almost a year. Then after I went all the way he broke up with me and I busted his knee with a baseball bat so I had to go through anger management. I have date a lot and I love to make out but he’s the only guy I’ve had sex with and it was only once. It was one of my I didn’t think just followed my heart and ended up heart broken. But whatever I bounce back. Out of nowhere I heard our rents yell for us. “Braelyn May and Ashlyn Ray get down here” Brae looked at me confused and we didn’t want them to get mad so we took off. “Yeah were coming” we said in unison. When got down stairs we saw none other than our favorite cousin Luke Bryan. We gave him a big hug he’s on tour but he always tries to come see us. He has always been our favorite cousin since we were little and we used to go down and spend summers on the farm in Georgia. I was so excited “What are you doing here” Brae and I asked again in unison which is something we do often “Is that any way to great someone, I thought you’d be happy to see me but I’ll just leave” He said as he flashed his award winning smile. “No I thought you were on tour, of course were happy to see you” I said “well your momma called and invited me to your graduation but I have a show Friday so since I have a couple days off I thought I’d see you before.” “This is the best surprise ever” Brae said with a huge smile. “So I’m gonna take you girls to dinner and bowling” ”YES!! Let’s go” We got in our truck our rents make a decent amount of money so they bought us used Chevys when we got our license. “SO how’s the tour going Luke?” “Well since it just started so far so good it’s my headlining tour so I’m excited about that and I got Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line with me and they are awesome.” “We love FGL Tyler and BK are so hot and there music is good, Almost as good as yours but you’ll always be our favorite artist” Brae said and Luke looked at her with his over protective bug brother look. “They are too old for you girls” We just laughed and let him think that we agreed with him.

We got to our favorite steak house and since we live in New York he wasn’t attacked by fans as bad as he is in the south where country music is bigger. He gladly took pics and signed autographs. People asked about Caroline and the boys and he said they were back in Nashville and that we were his little cousins. Which a lot of the girls that worked there go to our school they freaked out that we had a celebrity in our family. It wasn’t a big deal we know a lot of country artist through Luke because if he was on tour during the summer he would let us go on the road with him for a week since we were like 12 and during the winter break we sometimes go to go out hunting with him. “SO Luke how are Caroline and the boys?” “They are great the boys are getting big and they are so smart.” “That’s good they must have got all their smarts from their mother.” “and their looks must have come from her too”  Brae added and we all laughed. I can’t wait to see them and live close to you guys even though you are like never in town that long.” “Yeah but when I am in town I get to actually see you too instead of just talking on the phone and the boys will see my little sisters more often.” Dinner was awesome we talked and laughed then out of the corner of my eye I noticed someone I hope I’d never see again my ex-boyfriend Jay he said that he would kill me but he just tries to scare me and then he usually walks away. He played basketball and I guess he had a scholarship but he got addicted to painkillers and lost it. I don’t think it’s my fault his knees is fine and if he wasn’t an addict he could play and he dropped out anyway. He has a new girlfriend and she works here so she probably was being a bitch and told him I was here and she and I have almost gotten into fights but I want to stay out of trouble. I looked at Brae and she already saw him. Luke looked confused “What’s going on girls?” “Nothing Luke it’s fine I’m just glad you’re here maybe we’ll avoid the drama today” “What drama, what’s wrong?” “Just one of the many reasons I want to hurry up and get out of here my ex Jay and his new girlfriend are just going to start trouble like always.” “Well I won’t let anything happen to either of my fireflies” He has called us that since forever because we always liked to go catch fireflies on the farm. I couldn’t help but smile and I put my head on his shoulder. And of course Jay came over “I’m not doing this with you guys tonight Jay” “So you got another guy, watch out she’s a crazy slut she might take out her anger on you with a bat.” Luke didn’t like his tone or language “First I’m her cousin and second I would do far worse to you if you don’t walk away” “yeah like you’re tough country boy” “Luke he’s not worth it in a week I’ll never have to see him again, let’s just go”” You are lucky that she is being calm because I would kill for her. Come on girls lets go” We got up and started walking when I felt a sting in the back of head and fell to the floor. When I woke up I was in the hospital and my momma, dad, Brae and Luke were there. “What happened?   Luke smiled and explained “as we were walking out that jack ass hit you in the back of the head with a beer bottle and I kicked his ass. I’m sure it will be all over the news” I laughed “I’m glad you were there Luke that’s why I want to leave so bad. When can I get out of this hospital bed I have a graduation in a couple days. They all laughed and told me I could go home in the morning most likely. “So Luke did you hurt him bad” “Not as bad as you but he will think twice about messing with our family” ”I love ya LB” “I love ya too Firefly” He gave me a big hug.
