Sarah Calderon

I didn't think I could do this. Deep down inside I always knew my secret would hurt me in the end. I never thought it would hurt worse then what I already went through.

I skipped school today. I knew I couldn't face Briar after last night. He would hate me after today. He didn't understand why I yanked the bracelet off me and threw it on the ground then dashed out of his house. Not to mention right after he declared his love to me. Well, to Kate. Whoever that is, she's not even real.

This big lie has ruined my life. All I do is lie it seems. And now Briar loves me just like I wanted but he'll hate me soon. All thanks to Trisha.

I looked in the mirror at myself for a long while. The brown contacts lay motionless in the case on my counter along with my fake prescription glasses beside them. My hair was wet and fell down my back just above my but+. I couldn't help but glare at my reflection mocking me.

I dropped my towel and looked at my body. My fingers slowly lifting and outlining each scar that was given to me. I lost track on which ones were given to me by Trisha or my father. Trisha had been out of my life for three years now giving me a bit of relief but my father still took anger out on me occasionally... When he was home.

Anyways, today is the day I admit to the school that I am fucked up. Time to admit the truth and let all my secrets go. I stared at the contacts and glasses and wished them a silent goodbye.

Today, I'm Sarah Calderon.

That's right. I'm the girl the whole town talks about. I'm the girl every school knew about. Im the girl that's broken. But most importantly, I'm the girl that's been living a fake life.

Once I was on school grounds my hands were visibly shaking when I reached for the front door. Self motivation would have to wait until later. I could hear the screaming and foot stomping from the halls, the assembly has already started. Now or never? Never sounded like a redo noble choice but Trisha would force it out of me. Although deep down I thought, 'I don't owe these people anything'. However, I did owe Briar and my supposed to be friends. Besides, Next year I'll be off to college anyways and far away from this small town.

The hallway was empty and I couldn't help but hesitate at the gym doors. Do I want this?

I could hear the crowd reverberating from inside. Screams and cries but one voice overcame it all. Making the crowd break into silence.

"Now that the teachers are around school trying to chase the pigs labeled 1,2, and 4 we have plenty of time for the big announcement while they endlessly search for pig number 3, which doesn't exist. Not sure if most of you remember this day three years ago. But for those of you that do, I would like to announce the perfect anniversary gift for you all."

My eyebrows squint together in confusion, what was she talking about. I stepped through the doors quietly to walk from above the stage. I had a perfect view of the gym floor but I stayed to the side of the door in case of emergency and I need to run out.

I noticed a huge TV in the center of our gym and I couldn't help but wonder what exactly this was all about. My question was of course answered when the lights switched out suddenly and the TV brightened up the whole room.

It was the gym four years ago, Trisha standing in the middle with the microphone as usual. The gym was loud and screaming in roars of appreciation when the gym doors suddenly slammed open.

"Stop. Let go!" My small voices screamed out over the audio. My eyes widened in horror at the site of my naked body flung over Trey's shoulder three years ago. I was hitting his back when he had dropped me on the floor in the center of the gym. All the cheers came to an abrupt stop. Flashes from cameras went off and I was paralyzed.

Woof whistles went around the gym and others yelled "wh@re".

"You see everyone. She's nothing. Has no dignity. Is she even human? Your just a waste of space Sarah. Look at you. Skin and bones. Granny underwear and are those A cups?" Younger Trisha sighed in the video at the audience shaking her head. "What a shame."

I remember thinking how Utterly exposed ideas. The me on screen stood up quickly and ran out of the gym into the hall.

The video turned off after that and the gym lights turned on flashing us all. I couldn't believe the smirk that was on Trisha's face right now after showing me so- so exposed. Naked. Humiliated.

She looked on at the crowd with confidence, no doubt she wasn't finished yet. Before she could speak up however, Briar was out of the crowd and on the gym floor in seconds. His storming figure wowed me but the anger I caught on his face would make anyone terrified. Trisha only seemed to smirk.

His voice bounced the ought the gymnasium, "Trisha, how could you- that's so sick. What kind of person could-"

Trisha tapped her finger to Briar's lips shushing him silently, "shhh darling, wait till the end, you'll love it." My hands twitched at her physical contact. I should just march down there and shove that manicured hand up her- shit. My walk halfway down the steps caused everyone to turn towards me, including Briar and Trisha. I hadn't realized I was angry enough to actually start walking.

Gasps and whispers were heard all around me. Briar looked confused and gobsmacked by my appearance while Trisha looked agitated but kept her same smirk.

"Oh Sarah, nice of you to finally join the party!" Trisha's voice held excitement through the gym and if possible the gasps and whispered were even louder proving their assumption on who I am correct.

Trisha's tone however, changed a bit after she let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Or should I say Kate Bennington, I have no idea which one you go by these days." Cue the even louder audience of gasps.

I didn't care though. I didn't care about anyone except the young man that looked completely heartbroken and deceived. The guy that stood up for me even through a video. The guy that I first met through a stupid bet. The guy I lost my V card to. The guy I've been lying to. But most importantly, the guy in in love with.

He looked on up at me with a hard look of uncertainty. I rushed down the stairs towards him but it seems he couldn't handle a confrontation and took off in the opposite exit. "Briar wa-" my cry was cut short by Trisha snatching my arm and pulling me back to her.

"It hurts now doesn't it bîtch?" Her voice felt like knives hitting me.

I shook my head as unwanted tears shed down my face. "What is wrong with you? Haven't you done enough! Haven't I been through enough! I made  a mistake years ago but I can't do anything about it now! You've gotten your payback!" I cried out in anger. This has gone on far enough but Trisha didn't understand.

"It will never be enough Sarah."
