Hi guys...

Hope you enjoy :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I closed the front door behind me and started to reflect back on the day, whilst I walked into the kitchen, it still felt like someone was pressing a rock down, very hard, onto my chest. As I pushed the door open I saw my mum sat at the table on the phone. When she heard me close the door she looked up and smiled at me. I waited until she put the phone down, sighing.

“Is everything ok?” I asked.

She sighed as she run her hand though her hair “Not really... Hayden sweetie... Emily’s just called and told me that there’s a conference that I have to go to next week.” She said looking at me.

“Oookkk... so what’s wrong with that?” I asked confused.

“Well the conference will take all next week and possibly longer.” I looked at her really confused and I urged her to carry on. “And the conference is in Massachusetts.”

“Oh... ok” I said whilst turning around to take a bottle of water out of the fridge. “Anyway I’m going upstairs” I started to walk towards the door.

“Mrs... turn around” I slowly turned around to look at my mum. “Sit down” she said pointing to the seat opposite her on the island. I took a deep breath and walked over to the seat and sat down. “Tell me what’s wrong... and don’t try and lie. You’re my daughter... I know you to well.”

I started to play with my fingers and took a couple of deep breathes until I felt ready to tell her what was wrong. I slowly looked up and saw my mum’s face full of concern. “I’ve fallen out with a friend.”

“Oh... sweetie I’m sure you’ll both make up.”

I shook my head at her. “No mum we won’t the friendship it’s over and I... I have this strange feeling that the person is hiding something from me.”

“Well why did you fall out?”

“It was just a stupid little argument... I mean they said that I couldn’t go to some place because it was safer if I didn’t. So, I blew up at them saying that I hate it when people tell me what to do and now we’re at the point where we’ll probably make people around us feel awkward. And for some strange reason I hate it because it’s got to the point of when I don’t see this person I miss them... really bad and I hate feeling angry with them.”

She let out a deep breath “I don’t know what to say to that I mean I understand why the person might not have let you go to a place if they believe their keeping you safe. However, I can see what you’re saying that you don’t like it when people tell you what to do but if you miss this person but yet you don’t really want to forgive them then... I don’t know what to advice you except a good pizza and some films.” I laughed at her whilst she smiled at me.

“I can’t mum... thank you for the offer but... I have homework to do for tomorrow” I said.

“No... seeing as I’m not working or on a business trip at the moment. I am not letting you sit in your room all night alone while you’re upset. That’s not happening” she said whilst standing up and walking around the island to hug me.

“But what about my homework?”

“No doubt by the time the pizza’s delivered you’ll have finished your homework.” She said pulling away and smiling at me. “Right I shall order a cheese and tomato and a ham and mushroom. How does that sound?”

I nodded at her, smiling. “It sounds good mum”

She grabbed the phone from the opposite side of the island and walked into the hallway to find the number for the local pizza place. I took my books out of my bag and started on my homework. I started to think about the last time me and my mum had a night together like this and I’m sure it was a couple of years ago it wasn’t very recent due to her working all the time. Just as I’d finished my homework I heard the doorbell ring.
